Chapter 130

Angelina’s POV

A voice cut through the tension.

Tansy! What are you doing out here? Mr. Pierce is about to start the dinner!”

A middle-aged man hurried toward us. His face was red. Sweating. He kept glancing nervously toward the mansion entrance.

This had to be Tansy’s father.

He reached our group and grabbed Tansy’s arm. We need to go inside. Right now.”

Tansy pulled away from him. “Dad! Thank god you’re here! You need to hear this!”

Her father-Steven-looked confused. “Hear what? Tansy, this is not the time-

“This is that Nathan Sterling!” Tansy pointed at my father. “You know, the one who tried to pitch to you last year before his company completely tanked?”

Steven’s eyes went to Nathan. Recognition flashed across his face. Then disgust.

“And this is his daughter, Tansy gestured at me. “She came here with Mia and Logan, probably trying to social climb or something. I was just

explaining to her that she doesn’t belong at an event like this. That people like them shouldn’t be here with successful business owners and-”

“Tansy, not now.” Steven’s voice was tight. Anxious. “We can discuss this later. Mr. Pierce is waiting and he does not like to be kept waiting-

A new voice. Deep. Commanding. From the mansion entrance.

“Rodriguez, what’s taking so long? Dinner is about to start.”

Everyone froze.

I turned my head.

David Pierce stood in the doorway. Navy suit. Perfectly tailored. His presence filled the space even from fifty feet away.

Steven’s entire demeanor changed. His back straightened. His expression became almost servile.

Mr. Pierce! I’m so sorry, I was just-Steven’s voice was different now. Higher pitched. Nervous.

David walked toward us. Each step was measured.

His eyes scanned the group. Logan, Mia Nathan Tansy and her friends.

Then his gaze landed on me.

He stopped walking.

Just for a second. But I saw it. The recognition. The brief flash of something that looked like panic.

Tansy didn’t notice. She stepped forward eagerly.

“Mr. Pierce! I’m so sorry about this disruption. Logan invited this girl she gestured at me dismissively and she really doesn’t fit the atmosphere of tonight’s dinner. Her father’s business failed completely, and they’re just Omegas who-

“Miss Sterling.”

David’s voice cut through Tansy’s words like a knife.

The entire courtyard went silent.

David walked past Tansy without even looking at her. Came directly toward me.

His expression had changed completely. The coldness was gone. Replaced my respect.

“Miss Sterling.” He stopped about three feet from me. His head dipped slightly. Not a full bow. But definitely a gesture of respect. “I’m so glad

you could make it tonight. When Logan mentioned you might not attend, was genuinely worried.”

My mind processed this. He was doing this on purpose. Making a show of

Tansy’s mouth fell open. The blonde girl and the red-haired girl looked at each other. Confused.

David continued. He looked around at everyone gathered. His voice carried authority.

“Miss Sterling is the reason this deal is happening. She is the reason we are all here tonight celebrating this partnership.” He paused. Looked directly at Tansy. “She is the single most important person at this dinner.”

The words hung in the air.

Tansy’s face went through several emotions. Shock. Disbelief. Then horror as understanding dawned. The words hung in the air.

“But… but she’s…” Tansy’s voice was weak now. “She’s just an Omega’s daughter…”

Steven made a choking sound. The dark-haired guy’s eyes went wide.

Logan stared at his father. His face showed disbelief.

“Dad.” His voice was tight. “What’s going on? Why is Aria so important?*

David turned to look at his son. The warmth he’d shown me disappeared instantly. His expression went cold.

“I told you to make sure she came tonight.” His voice was sharp. “I told you this dinner was important. What part of that didn’t you

understand?”

Logan’s jaw clenched. “You didn’t tell me Aria was THIS important. You just said to invite her. I thought it was some charity thing or-”

“I shouldn’t have to explain everything to you, Logan.” David cut him off. His tone was dismissive. “You should be observant enough to figure

these things out yourself.”

Chapter 130*

Logan opened his mouth. Closed it. David didn’t even wait for a response. le turned back to me. The cold expression vanished.

“Miss Sterling, I apologize for the delay. His voice was completely different now. Warm. Polite. “Please, let’s go inside.”

He extended his hand toward the mansion entrance. A gesture of invitation.

“I’ve prepared your favorite. The chef tells me he’s made a special wine-braised short rib. I hope it’s to your liking.”

The change was so fast it was almost jarring. One second criticizing his son. The next second playing the gracious host.

Logan stared at his father. “Unbelievable,” he muttered under his breath.

I didn’t move yet. Just watched David.

He turned slightly. Looked at Nathan. His expression was still polite. But not as warm as when he looked at me.

“Mr. Sterling. Welcome. I’m glad you could attend.” He extended his hand.

Nathan stared at it for a moment. Then shook it.

“Thank you for the invitation, Mr. Pierce.”

David released Nathan’s hand. Turned back to me.

“Miss Sterling, shall we go inside? I have several people who are eager to meet you. CEOs, investors, board members. They’ve all been asking about the woman who managed to get me to agree to terms I normally would never accept.”

Everyone was waiting. Expecting me to follow him inside.

I didn’t move.

David noticed. His smile faltered slightly. He turned back to face me fully.

“Miss Sterling? Is something wrong?”

I looked at him. Let the silence stretch for a few seconds.

“Mr. Pierce, I have a question.”

David straightened immediately. “Of course. Anything.”
