Oops Wrong Girl to Bully (Angelina) by Xena Kessler novel Chapter 144

Chapter 144*

Angelina’s POV

I tuned out the conversations. Riley’s team appeared in front of me. They must have been waiting.

Jake reached me first. He raised his hand for a high-five.

I looked at his hand. Didn’t move mine.

He lowered it awkwardly. “Right. Sorry.”

Sofia was grinning. Excited. “Aria! That sprinkler trick was genius!”

Chen pushed his glasses up. His eyes showed clear admiration. “We all underestimated you. Seriously underestimated you.”

Riley’s expression was complicated. She looked at me like she was trying to solve a puzzle.

“What’s your training background?” she asked. “That kind of tactical decision-making doesn’t come from nowhere. You moved like someone with years of field experience.”

Antonio nodded. “Battlefield awareness. Threat assessment. Room clearing technique. All of it was textbook professional. But better than textbook. Adaptive. Instinctive.”

I looked at all five of them. They meant well. I could see that. The concern they’d shown earlier. The help they’d tried to offer. And now

genuine congratulations.

“Tomorrow is the final assessment,” I said. “Celebrating now is premature.

Riley tilted her head. “Aria, you’re ranked eleventh now. You’re basically guaranteed to make the top thirty.”

Chen pulled out his tablet. Started pulling up data. “Based on historical statistics, as long as you score above sixty on the final assessment,

you’re safe. The math works out.”

“Historical data is reference material. Not a guarantee.” I met his eyes. “I’ll treat the final assessment the same way I treated the first two days.

Seriously.”

“You’re right. We shouldn’t assume anything until the selection is complete.

“I need to clean my gear and prepare for tomorrow,” I said.

Riley stepped aside. “Of course. We’ll see you at dinner?”

“Okay.” I walked past them. Headed toward my barracks.

The second morning I stood with the other candidates in the assembly area. Waiting.

Felix had gathered everyone at six AM. The sun was just coming up. The ar was cold.

“Listen up,” Felix said. His voice was different today. Tighter. “Today is the final assessment. Three consecutive tests. Interrogation resistance,

endurance, and advanced marksmanship.”

He paused. Looked at all of us.

‘These three tests will be run by the same instructor. You’ll go through them back-to-back. No breaks between tests except for necessary

transitions.

Someone raised their hand. “Who’s the instructor?”

Felix’s jaw tightened slightly. Just for a second. But I noticed.

“A specialist. Command brought him in specifically for this selection.”

The way he said it. Something was off.

Felix continued. “This instructor doesn’t work for me. He doesn’t answer to me. He answers directly to Command.”

That got everyone’s attention.

“So here’s what I’m going to tell you.” Felix’s voice got harder. “Don’t piss him off. I mean it. Follow his instructions exactly. Don’t talk back. Don’t argue. Don’t try to be clever.”

“Sir, can you tell us more about his background?” someone asked.

Felix looked at him. Then looked away. “No. I can’t.”

“Why not?”

“Because even I don’t know his full background.” Felix’s expression was serious. “Command classified most of his file. What I do know is that he’s extremely qualified. And extremely… particular about how he runs his evaluations.”

He paused again. Longer this time.

“Let’s just say that in my twenty years of military service, I’ve met maybe three people who actually made me nervous. This instructor is one of them.”

The assembly area went completely quiet.

“That’s not a good sign.”

“No, it’s not.”

Felix checked his watch. “You have ten minutes. Use the bathroom. Get water. Then we load into the transport vehicles. You’re going to the east side training zone.”

Everyone started moving. Heading to the facilities.

I walked toward the water station. Filled my bottle.

Jake appeared next to me. “This is weird, right? Felix never acts like this.”

‘He’s concerned about something,” I said.

“Yeah, but what? Who is this mystery instructor that even Felix is worried about?”

“We’ll find out soon enough.”

Sofia joined us. I don’t like this. Something feels off.”

Antonio walked over too. “Command bringing in outside instructors isn’t unusual. But the way Felix is acting? That’s unusual.”

Riley was the last to join our group. “We need to be careful today. Whatever happens, stay professional. Don’t give this instructor any reason to

single you out.”

She looked at me specifically. “Aria, that means you especially. You’ve been performing too well. Some instructors don’t like candidates who

stand out.

“I’ll handle it,” I said.

Chen pushed his glasses up. “I tried to look up the instructor roster last night. See if I could find any information about who Command was

sending.”

“And?” Jake asked.

“The file was completely locked. Level Five security clearance required. I’ve never seen that before for a training instructor.”

Sofia frowned. “Level Five? That’s reserved for active field operatives. Why would an active operative be here running a selection?”

Nobody had an answer.

Felix’s voice cut through the conversations. “Time’s up! Load into the vehicles! Now!”

Everyone moved quickly. Headed toward the parking area where three large military transport trucks were waiting.

I climbed into the second truck. Found a seat near the middle.

Other candidates filled in the remaining seats. The truck’s engine started. We began moving.

The ride was quiet. Nobody was talking much. The nervous energy was obvious.

I looked out the small window. Watched the compound buildings pass by.

We drove for about fifteen minutes. Away from the main training areas. Toward the eastern edge of the compound.

The buildings here were different. Older. More industrial looking.

The truck stopped. The back gate opened.

“Everyone out!” someone shouted.

We climbed down. Found ourselves in a large open area.

Shipping containers everywhere. Stacked in patterns. Creating a maze-like structure.

Some containers were rusted. Others looked new. All of them arranged strategically to form an urban combat simulation zone.

Military-grade equipment was visible throughout. Tactical obstacles. Steel structures. Everything looked professional. Serious.

“Form up! Felix appeared from somewhere. “Four lines! Move!”

Everyone scrambled into formation. I ended up in the second line.

Felix stood at the front. “Your instructor will be here momentarily. When he arrives, you will stand at attention. You will not speak unless

spoken to. You will address him as Sir. Is that understood?”

“Yes sir!” we all responded.

“Good.”

Felix stepped back. Crossed his arms. Waited.

One minute passed. Then two.

The tension was building. Everyone standing perfectly still. Waiting for this mystery instructor to appear.

Then I heard footsteps.

Slow. Measured. Coming from behind the tallest stack of containers.

A figure emerged. Climbed up onto the highest container. About fifteen feet off the ground.

He stood there. Looking down at all of us.

My entire body went rigid.

No no no.

This couldn’t be happening.

The figure was tall. Wearing tactical uniform that was clearly custom-made. Dark colors. Professional cut. His build was powerful.

Even from this distance, even standing motionless, he radiated authority. Dangerous elegance. The kind of commanding energy that made people instinctively straighten their spines and pay attention.

Caelan. Of course it was. He’d followed me again.
