Angelina’s POV
Around me, 1 beard people reacting.
“Oh god, they’re taking her next.”
“Maybe she’ll fight back. She’s good at tactical stuff, right?”
“Doesn’t matter. She’s locked in a cell. What can she do?”
The lead guard pulled out a key. Started unlocking my door.
I used that moment. Raised my right leg. All my strength concentrated into one point.
Kicked the door with everything I had.
The heavy metal door exploded outward. Slammed into the lead guard’s face with devastating force.
The sound was incredible. The guard flew backward. Hit the wall behind him. Slid down to the floor.
He wasn’t moving.
The other four guards froze. Staring at the fallen guard. Then at me.
I stepped out of the cell. Looked at the unconscious guard.
“Cheap locks,” I said. “You should upgrade your facility.”
The remaining guards just stood there. Weapons at their sides. Not raising them. Not moving at all.
I could feel it happening. The subtle pressure emanating from me. Their bodies knew what I was even if their minds didn’t understand,
I turned my attention to them. Met each guard’s eyes through their masks.
“Well?” I said. “Are we going to the interrogation room or not?”
The second guard found his voice. “You… you just assaulted-
“Your colleague will be fine. He has a thick skull. I gestured down the hallway. “Shall we?”
They exchanged glances. Uncertain
Finally, the second guard nodded. “This way.”
We started walking. Me in the front. Four guards behind me.
As we passed the other cells, I could see faces pressed against the small windows. Eyes wide. Mouths open.

Complete shock
Someone whispered. What the hell just happened?”
Did she just did she just kick down a metal door?”
And knock out an armed guard?
“Who is she?”
We reached the end of the hallway. The lead guard-now the second guard since the leader was unconscious-unlocked the door.
I didn’t wait for him to open it.
Raised my boot. Kicked it open.
The door slammed against the wall with a loud bang that echoed through the corridor.
I walked through. Into a narrow concrete hallway. Dimmer lighting here. Emergency lights casting red shadows.
From rooms along this corridor, I could hear sounds. Muffled screaming, drying. The sounds of interrogation in progress.
The four guards followed me. Silent now. Not even trying to maintain control anymore.
We walked for maybe thirty feet. Passed three doors. All closed.
Then we stopped at the fourth door.
The guard reached for his keys.
I looked at the door. Standard metal. Locked from the outside.
I could wait for him to unlock it.
Or I could make a point.
I kicked the door. Same technique as before. Full force concentrated at the lock point.
The door crashed open. Slammed into the interior wall.
I walked in.

The interrogation room was exactly what I expected. Small. Concrete walls. Single metal table in the center. Two chairs. Bright overhead light creating harsh shadows.
Professional setup. Designed for psychological pressure.
I walked to the chair on the far side of the table. Sat down. Crossed my legs
Looked at the four guards standing in the doorway.

They were completely frozen. Didn’t know what to do with me.
I smiled slightly. Whenever you’re ready.”

The command center hummed with quiet efficiency. Banks of monitors lined the walls, each screen showing a different interrogation room.
Colonel Harrison stood in the center, arms crossed. Most disappointing bitch we’ve seen in years, he said to the major beside him. “Half of
them broke in under ten minutes.”
Major Barlow nodded. “The Rodriguez woman started talking before they even touched her. Just the sight of the waterboarding equipment was
enough.
“What about the others?
“Standard responses mostly. Crying, begging, some trying to negotiate.” Barlow gestured at the monitors. “Room Seven is interesting though.
That guy tried to fake a heart attack.”
“Did it work?”
“No. The medical sensors gave him away immediately. They just waited until he stopped pretending and started the actual interrogation.”
Harrison walked closer to the monitor wall. His eyes moved from screen to screen. “Anyone showing real resistance?”
“Not really. A few are holding out longer but they’ll break eventually. The scenario is designed that way.”
Harrison stopped walking. His attention caught by something on the bottom-left screen.
The interrogation room looked the same as the others. Concrete walls. Metal table. Bright overhead light. But the candidate sitting in the chair
was different.
She sat perfectly still. Hands resting on the armrests. Back straight. No fidgeting. No signs of stress.
“Who’s that? Harrison asked.
Barlow pulled up a file on his tablet. “Sterling, Aria. Fifteen years old. Ranked eleventh after yesterday’s tactical assessment.”
“Fifteen? Harrison leaned closer to the screen. “She looks calm.”
“Too calm, another officer commented. ‘Nobody sits like that in an interrogation room. Not without serious training.”
Harrison studied the girl on screen. Her posture was relaxed but alert. Like she was waiting for something interesting to happen.
Harrison frowned. ‘Run a deeper background check. I want to know everything about her.”
“Already did, sir. The results came back clean. Nothing suspicious.”
‘Clean doesn’t explain this.” Harrison pointed at the screen. “Look at her. She’s not nervous at all.”

“Her marksmanship scores were exceptional, Barlow said. She got ninety right out of one hundred on the tactical scenario. Completed a team-
mission solo.
I read that report. Thought it might be exaggerated”
Instructor Felix confirmed it personally. Said he’d never seen anyone that young perform at that level.”
Harrison rubbed his jaw. We should move her to the next phase. See how he handles actual interrogation pressure,”
Ill send the order
“That won’t be necessary.”
The voice came from behind them. Cold. Authoritative.
Every person in the command center turned.
A man stood in the doorway. Blue eyes that seemed to see everything at once.
Colonel Harrison straightened immediately. “Sir.”
The man walked into the command center. Everyone instinctively moved ide. Creating space around him.
He didn’t look at any of them. Just walked straight to the monitor wall.
His eyes found the bottom-left screen immediately. The one showing Aria
Harrison cleared his throat. “We were just discussing moving Sterling to the next interrogation phase.”
“No.
The word was flat.
Harrison exchanged glances with Major Barlow. “Sir, she’s been in the waing phase for over twenty minutes. Standard protocol dictates –
“I don’t care about standard protocol.”
The man’s eyes never left the screen. He watched Aria with an intensity that made the others uncomfortable.
With respect, sir, we need to maintain consistency across all candidates. we make exceptions for-*
‘She’s not getting an exception.” The man’s voice was quiet. Controlled. “She’s getting a different evaluator.”
“A different…?”
“Me.”
Harrison stared. “Sir, you re observing the entire selection. You don’t conduct individual interrogations.”
“I do now.”

Chapter 151
The man finally looked away from the screen. Turned to face Harrison.
The colonel was a tall man. But something about those blue eyes made him take a step back.
Everyone watched him. Waiting.
He stood there for another full minute. Just staring at the screen. At Aria
Then he moved. Turned on his heel. Walked toward the exit.
“Sir? Harrison called out. “Where are you-”

The man stopped in the doorway. Didn’t turn around.
The overhead lights cast his profile in sharp relief. All hard angles and controlled power.
Then slowly, deliberately, he began removing his white gloves.
The entire command center went completely still.
Those gloves never came off. Everyone who’d worked with this man knew that. He wore them constantly. Even during meals. Even during briefings.
