Chapter 9 *
Angelina’s POV
Slowly, they all turned to look at me.
I was standing in the doorway now. Arms crossed. Leaning against the frame.
“Cutting off fingers?‘ I shook my head. “That’s so boring. No imagination all.
The room went dead silent.

Jayden stared at me. Then he started laughing.
“Well, well.” He let go of Leo. Turned to face me fully. “The princess finally speaks. And here I thought you’d be too scared to come inside.
I didn’t move. Just met his eyes with a cold, flat stare.
“You got something to say, little girl? His smile was ugly. “Or you just wanna volunteer to take your brother’s place? Because I’m open to that.
Very open.
His guys laughed. One of them made a crude gesture.
Mom was sobbing Aria, run, Please, baby, just run-
I ignored her.
“I’m saying,” I said slowly, that you’re doing it wrong.”
Jayden’s eyebrows went up. “Doing it wrong?”
“Yeah.” I pushed off the doorframe. Took a step inside. “If you want to make an example? Cutting off one finger is weak. People forget. They
think maybe it was a one–time thing.
Another step.
“But if you really want someone to remember? I tilted my head. “You got make it hurt. Make it last. Give them time to really appreciate
what’s happening
The laughter died.
Jayden was looking at me differently now. Like he couldn’t quite figure out what he was seeing.
“You’re a sick little bitch, aren’t you?” But there was something else in his poice now. Interest. “I like that.”
“I know you do.” I smiled. No warmth in it. “So how about this. You let my brother go, And I’ll show you how it’s really done.”
“Aria- Leo’s voice cracked. “What are you-
I didn’t look at him.

Chapter 9 *
Jayden studied me for a long moment. Then he laughed again.
“Alright. I’ll bite.” He gestured at his guys. “Let the kid go.”
They released Leo. He stumbled forward, rubbing his wrist.
Jayden spread his arms wide. “So? Show me, princess. How’s it really done
1 moved.
Fast.
Faster than any fifteen–year–old girl should be able to move.
One second I was standing by the door. The next I was on him.
Grabbed his wrist. Twisted. Used his momentum against him.
The knife clattered to the floor.
I swept his legs. He went down hard, face–first into our coffee table.
Glass shattered. He hit the floor with a heavy thud.
Before anyone could react, I had my foot on his back. Pinning him.
And somehow I didn’t even remember grabbing it–I had a knife in my hand.
One of Mom’s kitchen knives. The big one she used for cutting meat.
I crouched down. Pressed the blade against Jayden’s neck.
“See?” My voice came out conversational. Friendly, almost. “This is how you do it.”
“What the fuck- One of his guys finally found his voice.
The others just stared.

Mom had both hands over her mouth. Eyes wide.
Leo looked like he’d seen a ghost..
I grabbed Jayden’s hand. The one with all the tattoos. Spread his fingers flat against the floor.
“You were gonna start with the pinkie, right? I examined his hand like Is studying a specimen. “That’s your first mistake. Pinkie’s too small.
Doesn’t make enough impact.‘
I tapped the knife against his index finger instead.
“This one’s better. People use this one all the time. They’ll notice it’s gone

Chapter 9 *
You crazy bitch–Jayden tried to move.
I pressed down harder with my foot. Heard something crack. Maybe a rib.
He stopped moving.
“Second mistake?” I continued like he hadn’t spoken. “Threatening to cut off all at once. That’s over too fast. Where’s the fun in that?”
I positioned the knife right at the first knuckle.
“You gotta take your time. Let them feel every second.”
“WAIT-
The blade went through clean.
Crack.
The first knuckle separated from the rest of his finger.
Jayden’s scream was beautiful.
Raw. Primal. The kind of sound that came from somewhere deep and anim.
He thrashed. Tried to pull his hand away.
I kept it pinned.
“See?” I picked up the severed piece. Held it up to the light. “Much more effective when you do it in sections. Gives him time to really
appreciate the experience.”
Blood pooled on the floor. Dark red. Almost black against the cheap linolem.
“You–fucking–BITCH-
“Language,” I said mildly,
Then I moved the knife to the second knuckle.
“Wait! WAIT! PLEASE-
Crack.
Another piece hit the floor.
Jayden’s scream went up an octave. Became something inhuman.
I sat back. Examined my work.
Two pieces of finger. Blood everywhere. Jayden sobbing into the floor.
