Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 501

Chapter 501

Seeing what was on his mind, Ophelia curved her lips slightly. “Guess there really isn’t anything left to talk about.” Since George had already said he was leaving Dunhollow, she knew what he wanted. She didn’t want to make things harder for him.

Still, she felt a pang of regret. After all, George had really been hurt this time.

George watched the emotions flicker across her face. After a brief pause, he comforted her, “Let’s just call it even.”

Ever since he realized how she felt about Alaric, he’d already decided to back off. He just never thought something like this would happen right as he was saying goodbye.

Maybe it was better this way. At least it gave him some closure.

But Ophelia didn’t get what he meant. “What do you mean, we’re even?”

‘Does he really think we’re even just because I patched him up?’ she wondered.

“If it weren’t for you back then, I probably wouldn’t even be here. I got roughed up this time, but it’s not like I was in any real danger. Guess I still got the better end of the deal,” George said with a teasing smile.

“I did bill you for patching you up, you know,” Ophelia said, half amused and half exasperated. ‘Is that really how he’s keeping score?’ she thought.

“The thing is, no matter how much I paid other doctors, none of them could’ve saved me,” George said. Back then, he was ready to die, never expected he’d end up meeting Ophelia.

Money couldn’t buy him a second chance at life.

Ophelia looked at how serious he was and found herself at a loss for words.

‘Fine, if that’s what makes him happy, so be it, she thought.

He was leaving anyway, so there was no point in arguing about it.

“But just so you know, I’ll be keeping an eye on Dunhollow from Clearwater City. If he ever lets you down, I’ll come right back,” George said, raising his voice on purpose so Alaric would hear him.

“You won’t get that chance,” Alaric’s calm voice came from outside the door, with a hint of amusement in his tone.

Yeah, he knew George was leaving, and honestly, he was in a pretty good mood about it.

George rolled his eyes, then teased, “You’re great at everything, but your taste in men… seriously?”
