Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 53

**Paths Lead To Purpose — Kevin Masters**

**Chapter 53**

In that moment, Zoe felt a wave of emotion wash over her, more intense than the thrill of the car Oliver had gifted her.

Her heart constricted, a tight knot forming in her chest as she prepared to speak. But as the words began to tumble from her lips, a sense of unease crept in, and she abruptly halted, sensing something was amiss.

Every gaze in the room seemed to converge on her, and a rush of panic surged through her veins, making her feel exposed and vulnerable.

Flustered and caught off guard, she struggled to regain her composure. Taking a steadying breath, she focused on her grandfather, her voice trembling slightly as she spoke. “Grandpa, what I truly mean is that today marks your seventieth birthday.

“It’s a day for us to celebrate you and shower you with gifts, not the other way around. Besides, this emerald bracelet belongs to Grandma; it’s a family heirloom. Its age and significance must make its value truly immeasurable.”

Her eyes darted toward Ophelia, a silent plea in her expression, warning her with an unspoken message: ‘If you have any sense, don’t accept that bracelet.’

“This bracelet is a welcome gift for Ophelia. It doesn’t take away from the gifts you’re giving me,” Tristan interjected, his voice firm yet gentle as he turned his attention to Ophelia. “You should keep it.

“This emerald bracelet has been passed down through your grandmother’s lineage. Before she passed away, she often thought of the child lost in that tragic fire. If she were here today, she would have wanted you to have this.”

Tristan’s heart ached with the weight of his wife’s lingering regrets about the child they had lost. Today, he was determined to fulfill her last wish, a promise made in love.

Zoe felt a surge of unexpected emotion at the realization that Grandma had held Ophelia in her thoughts so deeply before her passing. Her eyes began to burn with a mix of anger and resentment.

For years, she had longed for that very bracelet. On her eighteenth birthday, Grandpa had flatly refused to part with it, yet now, it was being so easily handed to Ophelia, as if she were the rightful owner all along.

Seeing her accept the bracelet brought a bright smile to Tristan’s face, illuminating the room with warmth. “Oh, don’t be so formal with me! Come, sit down and let’s chat for a bit. How have you been since your return? Are you settling in alright? Is there anything you need?”

Tristan’s barrage of questions caught Ophelia slightly off guard, but she felt a warmth spreading through her.

“I’m doing well, Grandpa. There’s no need to worry about me,” she replied, her voice infused with sincerity.

“Dad, don’t fret. We’ll take care of everything for Ophelia,” Victoria chimed in with a reassuring smile.

Since his wife’s passing, it was a rare sight to see Tristan so open and warm towards someone. The atmosphere shifted, and the conversation flowed easily between the grandfather and granddaughter, each word weaving a tapestry of connection and joy.

Yet, amidst the laughter and shared stories, Zoe’s eyes burned with a quiet fury as she glared at Ophelia, jealousy simmering beneath the surface.
