Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 58

**Paths Lead To Purpose — Kevin Masters**
**Chapter 58**

Daphne was a storm of emotions, her anger boiling just beneath the surface. After pouring her heart into selecting a birthday gift that held deep significance for her grandfather, she felt utterly defeated. The thought of Ophelia’s trivial little homemade fragrance overshadowing her carefully chosen present was intolerable.

‘A homemade fragrance? There’s no way it could possibly be as impactful as mine. Grandpa is clearly biased,’ she seethed internally, her cheeks flushing a bright crimson from the frustration that bubbled within her. ‘Just wait and see, Ophelia. This isn’t over.’

As the Rowle family members wrapped up their gift-giving, the other guests began to follow suit, showering Tristan with their offerings. He, in a particularly buoyant mood, accepted each gift with graciousness, a charming smile plastered on his face.

Suddenly, a deep, authoritative voice sliced through the hum of conversation. “Mr. Rowle.”

Everyone turned in unison, curiosity piqued at the newcomer’s arrival. It was Alaric.

In the midst of Ophelia basking in the limelight, it seemed as though this distinguished figure had been momentarily forgotten, but now he commanded the room’s attention effortlessly.

Alaric strode in, clad in a meticulously tailored high-fashion suit that accentuated his tall, athletic frame. There was an undeniable air of authority about him, a quiet confidence that drew every eye in the room. Each step he took was deliberate, yet casual, as if he were accustomed to being the center of attention.

The atmosphere shifted palpably; it was as if he had pulled the spotlight onto himself, illuminating the room with his presence. A few young women in attendance couldn’t help but blush, their whispers laced with excitement and admiration.

“It’s Mr. Caldwell!” one of them gasped, her eyes wide.

“Wow, Mr. Caldwell is here,” another chimed in, her voice tinged with awe.

“He looks even more impressive than before. So handsome,” a third added, unable to contain her admiration.

Zoe, standing nearby, felt a flush creep up her own cheeks, but as she listened to the enthusiastic chatter of the young women, a wave of jealousy washed over her. It gnawed at her insides, the unsettling notion that they were ogling her man, and she couldn’t shake the discomfort that accompanied it.

Yet, despite the collective admiration surrounding him, Alaric appeared blissfully unaware. His gaze was fixed, unwavering, directly on Ophelia, who stood beside Tristan.

An eyebrow arched slightly, and for a fleeting moment, a flicker of admiration danced across his features.

“Grandpa is doing better, but unfortunately, he won’t be able to join us for your birthday celebration this year. He truly hopes you can understand,” Alaric explained with courtesy, his expression serious.

“It’s alright,” Tristan waved his hand dismissively, though a shadow of worry lingered in his eyes. “I heard his condition was critical. It’s a relief to know he made it through. But now that he’s better, he still needs to take it easy and rest.”

“Absolutely,” Alaric agreed, his gaze drifting meaningfully toward Ophelia.

A flicker of amusement crossed Alaric’s mind. He couldn’t help but think how astonished Tristan would be to learn that Zachary’s recovery was largely due to Ophelia’s intervention.

Meanwhile, a subtle frown creased Ophelia’s brow, a wave of apprehension washing over her. ‘Please don’t let Alaric say something out of line at the party!’ she thought, anxiety creeping in.

At that moment, Alaric spoke again, his tone light yet purposeful. “My grandfather asked me to convey that you shouldn’t worry too much about his health. He’s been feeling much better these past few days.”

He paused for dramatic effect, his gaze settling on Ophelia with a hint of playful intent. “In fact, Ms. Ophelia Rowle can personally vouch for his improvement.”
