Ophelia Gets Thrown Out (Ophelia) novel Chapter 7

**TITLE: Paths Lead To Purpose — Kevin Masters**
**Chapter 7: Dating**

Chloe immediately bowed her head, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. “I’m really sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. It just slipped out before I could think.”

Ophelia, with a lightness in her tone that belied the tension in the room, replied, “You know, according to psychology, what slips out often reveals our true thoughts.” She paused, her gaze steady on Chloe. “But you’re mistaken in your assumption. I never intended to take anyone’s room. Zoe expressed a desire to stay close to me, so I simply offered to switch rooms. Isn’t that right, Zoe?”

Ophelia turned her gaze to Zoe, a sweet smile on her lips as if inviting her to join the conversation.

Zoe froze, her face turning a shade of crimson as embarrassment washed over her. She managed a stiff nod, her voice barely above a whisper. “Yeah, I wanted to be near Ophelia. It’s just that I’ve got a lot of stuff, and moving everything will take some time.”

Victoria, sensing the awkwardness between the two girls, quickly interjected to diffuse the tension. “Chloe, there are plenty of rooms in this house. Why don’t you prepare the biggest and brightest master bedroom on the sixth floor for Ophelia?”

Chloe’s demeanor shifted instantly, her expression hardening. “Understood, Mrs. Rowle. I’ll send someone to get it ready right away.”

As she turned to leave the living room, a resentful glare was cast in Ophelia’s direction, a fleeting moment of malice that did not go unnoticed.

Ophelia, assessing Chloe’s reaction, felt a flicker of amusement. On the outside, she appeared quite ordinary, but Chloe’s sharp tongue had taken her by surprise.

Watching Chloe exit, Ophelia couldn’t help but smirk inwardly. ‘Poor planning? What nonsense. That servant was clearly testing my patience on purpose,’ she mused, a sense of satisfaction bubbling within her.

In her time with the Vossen family, she had never backed down from anyone, not even Abigail. Now that she was back in her true home, she certainly wouldn’t allow anyone to walk all over her.

Once the matter was settled, Zoe feigned kindness, her voice dripping with faux sweetness. “I just wanted to spend more time bonding with Ophelia, but I didn’t realize she preferred larger rooms.”

Her words twisted Ophelia’s intentions, framing her as someone who simply craved opulence.

Before Ophelia could defend herself, Adrian stepped in, his voice firm and protective. “There’s an elevator in the house. If you wish to bond with Ophelia, you can easily visit her upstairs anytime.”

“But she shouldn’t have to squeeze into that cramped room next to yours. Everyone deserves their own space, and Ophelia should have the same.”

Adrian thought to himself, ‘Of course, I’ll spoil my daughter. If she desires a larger room, why shouldn’t she have it?’

For the first time in a long while, Ophelia felt a sense of relief wash over her. She didn’t have to fight for herself; her family was standing up for her.

The warmth of being protected filled her heart.

‘The Rowles are truly different from the Vossens,’ she reflected, a smile creeping onto her face.

Zoe’s expression hardened as realization dawned on her. ‘Father used to dote on me the most. But now that Ophelia’s back, he’s siding with her?’ she thought, a twinge of jealousy sparking within her.

Just then, Samuel entered the room, accompanied by a man in formal attire. “Mr. and Mrs. Rowle, someone from the Caldwell family is here with a letter.”

“The Caldwell family?” Adrian inquired, his brow furrowing. “A letter from Zachary?”

Typically, messages were delivered verbally, and only the heads of the two families exchanged letters.

As the Caldwell messenger stepped forward, Ophelia felt a strange sense of familiarity wash over her.

‘Where have I seen him before?’ she pondered, her mind racing. ‘Ah, right! The hospital! He’s the Caldwell family’s butler.’

Jason, the butler, froze momentarily upon seeing her, his expression flickering with confusion as if he were taken aback by her presence.

He cleared his throat and delivered Dominic Caldwell’s message to Adrian. “This letter is for Tristan Rowle, and Mr. Caldwell asked me to convey a message to you. He’s aware that your daughter has returned.”

“The engagement between the Caldwell and Rowle families must remain unchanged, and identities must not be confused. Mr. Caldwell hopes that at Tristan’s upcoming party, the Rowle family will publicly clarify the engagement partner to avoid any unnecessary speculation.”

His words were concise yet unmistakably clear, leaving an air of tension hanging in the room.

Adrian appeared momentarily stunned. “Mr. Caldwell found out that quickly?”

They had only discovered Ophelia earlier that day, yet the Caldwell family was already in the loop.
