Chapter 83
Chapter 83
“Then we’ll respect Mr. Blackwell’s arrangements,” Adrian declared.
Though part of him still wanted to accompany Ophelia themselves, he recognized the importance of honoring Connor’s gesture.
His special attention toward Ophelia was, after all, something to be appreciated.
Zoe looked up with a practiced, reassuring smile. “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure Ophelia settles in properly at the college.” She turned to Ophelia with carefully crafted concern. “Just let me know if you need anything at all on campus.”
“Of course,” Ophelia responded, though her tone carried a hint of indifference.
A flicker of irritation crossed Zoe’s features before she could conceal it.
‘Mr. Blackwell sending someone for her? Unlikely,’ she thought bitterly. ‘He already pulled strings to get her into Dunhollow University. Why would he bother with special treatment beyond that?’
She pushed her food around her plate, the meal suddenly unappetizing.
“Sir, Madam,” Chloe announced, entering at that moment. “It’s almost time for the young ladies to leave for school.”
“Very well,” Victoria said, rising. She smiled warmly at Ophelia. “If we can’t take you to campus, at least let us walk you out.”
“Of course,” Ophelia agreed with a slight smile.
Zoe stood as well. “We’ll be on our way then.”
Victoria and Adrian walked them out to the courtyard, watching as the two got into their respective cars.
After saying their goodbyes, the vehicles pulled away from Rowle Villa one after the other.
Just before driving off, Zoe exchanged a brief glance with Chloe, who gave an almost imperceptible nod.
Zoe settled into her seat, her eyes darkening with unspoken thoughts.
The two cars proceeded along the tree-lined avenue toward Dunhollow University, with Zoe’s vehicle in the lead.
Seated in the back of her car, Ophelia was reviewing documents Ella had sent her, appreciating the newfound freedom to manage her affairs away from the Vossen family.
The drive was smooth until they entered the city.
While waiting at a red light, a black sedan suddenly ran the signal and accelerated directly toward Ophelia’s side of the
vehicle.
The impact was violent and precise. The driver fought for control as the car spun before lurching to a stop.
Shaken, his first instinct was to check on Ophelia. “Ms. Rowle, are you all right?” he asked urgently, well aware the collision had targeted her side.
To his surprise, he found Ophelia already seated on the opposite side of the car, completely unharmed. Her tablet, however, lay shattered on the floor.
“I’m fine,” Ophelia replied coolly, her gaze fixed on the black sedan outside.
They were in the city. Even a sudden start shouldn’t have generated that much force. Yet the other car had slammed into hers at full speed, leaving the side severely dented.
Had she not moved with trained reflexes, the consequences would have been dire.
“I’m so sorry, sir! My girlfriend hit the gas instead of the brake.” The driver of the black sedan emerged, offering apologies while his eyes curiously scanned the car’s interior.
Ophelia’s face darkened as she instructed her driver, “I’ll take a cab to school. Handle this here. No settlement. I want him held fully accountable.”
“Yes, Ms. Rowle,” the driver replied, momentarily taken aback by the commanding tone that seemed beyond her years. Most wealthy young ladies would brush off such minor incidents, but Ophelia clearly had her reasons.
As her driver went to confront the man, Ophelia listened to their exchange.
Her instincts told her this was no accident, yet they were complete strangers. The police would classify it as a traffic collision anyway. If this was deliberate, someone must be behin

With this thought, she photographed the license plate and sent it to Ella.

When the police arrived, she slipped into a taxi and continued to school.
The delay meant she’d be late for her scheduled arrival.
The school gates stood deserted, the morning rush long over.
Zoe stepped out of her car, glancing at her watch before scanning the empty road behind her. A sly smile touched her eyes. Though Victoria had arranged everything for Ophelia’s grand entrance, just one small maneuver from Zoe had ensured Ophelia wouldn’t be attending school anytime soon.
Zoe smiled in smug satisfaction. By now, Ophelia was probably in a hospital bed, and the thought of her being unable to attend school for days filled Zoe with immense pleasure.
Just as she turned to enter the school grounds, a tall figure caught her attention.
“Declan?” Her eyes brightened at the sight of Connor’s grandson.
Declan Blackwell was something of a legend, not only as the principal’s grandson, but also for his exceptional talent and
remarkable achievements.
