Miranda paused for a moment before adding, "Frederick, we should bring Chloe with us. Didn't she just have a nice chat with Julius over dinner recently? If we take her along, she can put in a good word for us. It might make things go a lot smoother."
Frederick nodded. "Good call. You really think of everything. Go upstairs and tell her to get ready. We leave for Blackwood Group in an hour."
"I'll go tell her right now," Miranda said, hurrying upstairs.
She opened Chloe's door and found her doing her makeup.
"Perfect timing, Chloe. Make sure you look your best. In an hour, the three of us are heading to Blackwood Group to see Julius."
At the name 'Julius,' Chloe's hand violently jerked, smearing lipstick across her cheek.
"Mom, what did you just say? We're going to the Blackwood Group? All three of us?"
Miranda nodded. "Yes. Your father's company is in a massive crisis. He has no cash flow. He called that bitch Stella to come over for dinner, hoping to get her to hand over the wedding fund to save the company, but she refused to even see him. So, we're going to ask Julius for a bailout. Didn't you just have dinner with him? Maybe he'll listen to you. You need to put in a good word for us."
Chloe shook her head frantically. "No! Mom, I don't want to go!"
Miranda swatted her arm, losing her temper with her daughter for the first time. "What is wrong with you? Your father's business is on the line! If you don't help and the company goes under, do you really think you'll get to keep living this luxury lifestyle?"
It was the first time Miranda had ever spoken to her so harshly. Chloe was taken aback, her own voice rising. "Mom, why are you yelling at me?"
