He didn't care if his words were harsh; Frederick didn't deserve any pleasantries.

Frederick felt incredibly wronged. He had literally just extended the bat for her to grab onto—how did that equate to him beating her?

Julius's expression was glacial. "I'm not interested in your excuses. Hand over her mother's bangle right now, or I'll have this place torn down this very second."

Trashing the Hawthorne estate was child's play; he could make it happen with a snap of his fingers.

Frederick shot Miranda a desperate look, and she hastily shoved the bangle into his hands.

Frederick offered it to Julius with a trembling hand. "Stella, here is your mother's bangle. I'm returning it to you now. I won't hold onto it for you anymore, so please keep it safe."

Stella peeked out from Julius's embrace, glanced at the piece of jewelry, and confirmed it was indeed the violet jade bangle her mother used to wear.

She slipped the bangle onto her left wrist and immediately buried her face back into Julius's chest, refusing to even look at Frederick.

All Julius saw was a woman completely shattered by grief, which only deepened his fierce protectiveness.

He murmured softly, "Let me take you home, okay?"

Stella offered a weak, trembling reply. "Okay."

Frederick panicked. "Wait, Stella! It's all my fault. I'm so sorry, but you have to help me. If you don't, my company is going to go under."

He shot a frantic glare at Miranda and Chloe, silently demanding they come over and apologize to her.

Julius had made it perfectly clear—they had wronged Stella, so she was the only one who could grant them mercy.

Miranda dragged her feet as she walked over, bowing stiffly in apology. "Stella, I'm sorry. I was wrong. I never should have taken your mother's belongings."

Julius leveled a displeased, icy stare at Frederick.

Frederick instantly understood. He turned and snapped at his other daughter. "Chloe, get over here and apologize to your sister!"
