"Yes." He couldn't deny that, so he could only admit it.
Julius did know Yvonne Jeter, but she was absolutely not his girlfriend. He had no girlfriend.
"Care to explain?"
Since he hadn't hesitated for a single second before throwing the woman out, she decided to give him a chance to explain himself. If his explanation was garbage, however, she was out of there.
Julius quickly began. "Yes, of course I will."
"Her name is Yvonne Jeter. She's the heiress of the Jeter family, and our families are old family connections. When we were kids, she used to visit the old estate a lot.
But I never liked her. It was always Jason who played with her. She eventually went abroad, and after coming back, started working for her family's company.
I occasionally bump into her at banquets. She is absolutely not my girlfriend. She made that up entirely on her own. I have never acknowledged her in that way, so please don't believe a word she says."
"Then why was she here looking for you?"
"My best guess? She probably heard my legs had recovered and came running to see if it was true."
"Your legs have been fully healed for a month. If your families are that close, she would have visited ages ago. Why wait until now?"
"I heard she went abroad for fashion week or some design competition. She's a fashion designer, so she probably just got back recently."
"Alright, then be honest with me. How many other 'family friends' do you have lined up, and am I going to have to deal with women like her constantly in the future?"
Julius answered truthfully, "The Jeter family is the only one we have truly close ties with. Honestly, her parents used to want to arrange a marriage between us.
Later, you told me you liked me, and for now, I believe you. But if the day ever comes when you grow tired of me, or if you cheat on me, you must tell me immediately.
I will gladly sign the divorce papers and set you free. What I will not tolerate is you sleeping around behind my back,
or you staying with me out of obligation while being in love with someone else. A marriage like that is a dead end, and it only breeds misery.
That's exactly what happened to my parents, and I refuse to follow in my mother's footsteps. Do you understand me?"
Julius pulled her securely into his arms, his voice equally solemn. "I understand, Stella. I swear to you, my heart belongs entirely to you. I will never betray our marriage.
Please, try to trust me, and trust yourself. You are not your mother. There might have been underlying reasons for the tragedy of her marriage that we don't fully understand..."
