She had blurted it out completely subconsciously; she hadn't meant to say it at all.
Julius didn't press the issue. They could take it slow; they had all the time in the world.
He gently tapped her nose. "You little gold digger. You act like you're desperate for cash, yet you never swipe the black card I gave you. That card has literally no spending limit."
If she was greedy, she didn't use his money. If she wasn't greedy, she sometimes acted completely money-obsessed. He genuinely couldn't figure out how her mind worked.
"It's the principle of the thing. What's mine is mine. I refuse to take a loss."
His card really had no limit?
She genuinely hadn't known that. Still, he had handed her a blank check right after they met. Wasn't he afraid she'd just drain his accounts and run?
Julius ruffled her hair. "Alright, you won't take a loss. I'll make sure you never take a loss. You must be starving by now. What do you want to eat?"
Stella thought about it for a second. "I want the steamed fish and crystal chicken from Veridian Court, plus the lobster omelette and the ginseng-hazel grouse consommé from the Astoria Grand Hotel. Can you make all that happen at once?"
Julius chuckled softly. "That's child's play. Never mind fulfilling your appetite, I can easily satisfy your *other* needs too."
It sounded like a perfectly normal sentence, yet Stella felt like there was a wickedly loaded double meaning hidden in his tone.
She absolutely did not have any *other* needs, thank you very much!
Seeing his wife pouting, Julius found her impossibly cute. He couldn't resist reaching out to pinch her puffed-up cheek. Her skin was flawlessly radiant, soft and bouncy to the touch.
After making two quick phone calls, he declared, "I guarantee your favorite foods will be right in front of you in thirty minutes."
"Great, then I'll just sit back and wait for my feast."
Since he promised it in thirty minutes, she was perfectly willing to wait.
She curled up lazily on the couch, playing a game on her phone.
Taking advantage of the downtime, Julius processed two highly confidential documents.
