"I went to the northern suburbs to deal with the processing factory."
Stella pressed immediately, "The factory for Siren's Scent?" She figured it wasn't a standard perfume plant.
He wouldn't need to personally oversee a legitimate cosmetics plant. He was partnered with the Harper family, and since they were titans in the fragrance industry, they had plenty of legitimate factories at their disposal.
"Yes."
"Where exactly in the northern suburbs?" So that's where the sick operation was hidden!
"Abandoned Factory No. 2."
"Who is the mastermind backing you?"
"It's..." Just as the name was about to leave his lips, a bullet ripped straight through Gideon's skull, splashing hot blood across Stella's face.
She violently threw herself off the mattress, diving straight under the bed.
A suppressed sniper rifle!
Damn it! The mastermind must have sent a hitman. They had probably been monitoring him this entire time and silenced him the exact second he was about to expose them.
What were the odds of a coincidence like this?
Snatching Gideon's phone from the floor, she instantly dialed Julius.
Julius hadn't even made it back to the Imperial Gardens when his phone lit up. He slammed the brakes, pulling to the side of the road. "Hello?"
He was answering every unknown number right now; Stella could reach out at any second.
"Julius, call the cops! Have them dispatch the closest units to Gideon's house right now! He was just assassinated to keep him quiet. Hurry!"
She knew Julius had the influence to make it happen. Coming from him, the police response would be instantaneous and handled with the utmost priority.
Footsteps!
She pressed herself tightly into a dark corner.
"I don't know what Mr. Kaye is thinking, ordering us to pull those two women out of the basement at this hour. It's the middle of the night."
"Who cares? We just do what we're told. Let's move before we screw something up. If he gets pissed, we're the ones who suffer."
"Yeah. The boss looks polite, but he's a total psycho. Come on."
Once the two men passed, Stella slipped out of the shadows and silently shadowed them.
It seemed they didn't know Gideon was dead yet. Someone had issued a fake order to pull the hostages out.
She was right. The mastermind was already making their move!
