He erupted in fury. "Julius, you actually called the cops! I guess you don't want them alive after all. Let's just get rid of one right now. Should I take your grandmother's life first, or your wife's?"
"Kill me!" Nadine pleaded desperately. "Leave my granddaughter-in-law alone!"
She was old; her life had run its course. But Stella and Julius still had their whole lives ahead of them. She couldn't let anything happen to Stella.
Julius panicked. "Don't do anything stupid! I'll tell the police to stay back."
Noticing the wide-open space outside, Stella realized her moment had finally come.
"Wade," she said softly, her voice sweet and innocent.
"What? Don't try any tricks, bitch, or you'll regret it when your face is ruined." He knew she could hypnotize people, so he refused to meet her eyes.
"I'm not trying anything. I just want you to loosen the ropes. They're tying me too tight. It hurts." She lifted her bound hands right in front of Wade's face.
Wade pressed the dagger against her skin. "If you don't behave, I'll slit your wrists right now and watch you bleed to death. How does that sound?"
"Stella, don't provoke him!" Julius was terrified Wade would actually follow through on his threat.
"It doesn't sound very good at all. I don't like being threatened, and I really don't like having a knife pointed at me," Stella replied calmly. With her bound hands, she gently grasped Wade's knife-wielding wrist.
Wade suddenly felt a sharp numbness shoot up his arm, and the dagger slipped from his fingers, clattering to the ground.
Stella moved with lightning speed. As she dropped her hands, she brought her foot down hard, stomping viciously onto Wade's foot.
"You little bitch!" Wade howled, hopping in pain. "I'll kill you!"
Breaking free from his grip, Stella created some distance between them, raised her leg, and delivered a devastating kick that sent him flying through the air.
"I'm fine," Nadine said. "I had no idea our Stella was so brave. That was amazing! One kick and the bad guy went flying."
Julius knew she was a capable fighter, but he hadn't realized she was this skilled. He had nearly lost his mind with terror just moments ago, terrified Wade's knife would slip.
But... why did that flying kick look so incredibly familiar?
Stella held her grandmother's hand, subtly checking her pulse to ensure her vitals were stable before finally relaxing.
Thank goodness Grandma was okay. Otherwise, she would have carved off Wade's flesh and fed it to the dogs!
And thank goodness she had decided to come back to the estate, or who knows what would have happened to her.
Stella wrapped her arms around Nadine, acting playful. "That's right, Grandma! I'm a badass superheroine. What delicious food am I getting as a reward tonight?"
