If it wasn't for that useless girl, Julius would have never targeted them.
Franklin rarely made enemies, and no one else in the capital had the power to orchestrate an attack like this. It was undeniably Julius.
Regret gnawed at him. He should have sent an extravagant apology gift the morning after the incident to beg for mercy.
Even before knowing the full truth, knowing Rhoda had caused a scene at the Blackwood Manor should have been enough reason to grovel and ensure the video stayed buried.
But because the Jeters had remained silent, he had assumed he was safe.
Who could have guessed the real truth was that Rhoda had actively tried to ruin Julius's wife?
Julius was notoriously fiercely protective, but pushing a major corporation to the brink of bankruptcy just for his wife was on another level.
Franklin had simply wanted to confirm his suspicions by calling Byron. Hearing that the Jeters were untouched cemented his theory.
Now that the Jeters were fine, it was clear Julius was honoring his family's history with them, reserving his vengeance solely for the Fords.
Regardless of the specifics, he needed to beg Julius to stop the bleeding.
But even though he had no hard proof it was Julius, he knew.
After much deliberation, Franklin had his staff prepare an incredibly expensive gift and drove straight to the Blackwood Group headquarters to see Julius.
Julius, naturally, knew exactly why Franklin was there.
He was the one who had ordered the cyberattack.
He intentionally waited until the day after Yvonne was discharged. He knew Yvonne would crack and tell her father the truth, and he knew Byron would relay that truth to Franklin.
Because Yvonne was exactly the kind of person who crumbled under pressure.
And Byron was a selfish, prideful man.
Despite his age, Franklin practically crumbled under the sheer weight of the younger man's oppressive aura.
"Mr. Blackwood, I'm here regarding my daughter's unforgivable behavior," Franklin began, maintaining the utmost respect, not daring to use Julius's first name despite their age gap.
"Speak," Julius commanded, his voice like ice.
"I recently learned about the disgraceful stunt she pulled at your estate. So I've brought a modest gift to formally apologize to your wife on her behalf."
"I beg you to be the bigger person and let this pass. She has already paid a heavy price and is still recovering in the hospital. The moment she is discharged, I will personally drag her here to grovel at Mrs. Blackwood's feet."
His tone was utterly subservient.
Julius sneered. "Do you honestly believe that one isolated incident is the only thing she did? If that were the case, I wouldn't have bothered tearing your company apart. Do you have any idea how many times she has harassed my wife?"
Franklin's blood ran cold. Just how many times had that wretched girl provoked the Blackwood family behind his back?!
