Stella smiled genuinely. "Thank you, Nadine."

The matriarch was truly kind to her. Even when she believed Stella was Chloe, she had treated her well—albeit primarily for the sake of her grandson's health.

But now, knowing the full truth, instead of lashing out at the deception, she was fiercely vowing to protect her. What an incredibly sweet woman.

Jason was reeling from the massive bombshell dropped right in his own family.

He looked at Stella in utter disbelief. "So, you were blackmailed by your dad to take your sister's place, and then bullied by our grandmother into a flash marriage with my brother?"

Nadine immediately smacked the back of his head. "You useless boy! If you don't know how to speak properly, keep your mouth shut!"

Her youngest grandson always had a knack for saying the wrong thing at the worst time. Instead of offering a shred of sympathy after hearing the tragic truth, he just had to blurt out the most tactless summary possible.

Jason rubbed his head, grumbling under his breath. "I was just stating the facts."

Nadine expertly ignored him. Feeling a sudden pang of guilt, she turned to Stella. "Stella, do you... blame me for what happened?"

She really had faked her illness to manipulate her grandson into the marriage. By forcing Julius's hand, she had indirectly forced Stella's.

Stella casually shrugged. "Nadine, I don't blame you at all. I went to City Hall with Julius entirely of my own free will."

It was just a marriage of convenience. Both sides were getting exactly what they needed out of the transaction. Claiming she was a helpless victim forced into signing the papers would just be dramatic.

"That's wonderful, simply wonderful. You two just focus on building a life together. Julius is much older than you, so he'll definitely know how to pamper you."

Julius was speechless.

Was eight years really that massive of a gap?
