Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 392

Riding high on his numbers advantage, and seeing that the two of them were out-of-towners, Spike was fully prepared to bully them into submission.

Stella switched seamlessly to the local dialect. "And if we don't apologize?"

"Oh, so you're a local. I thought you were just a tourist. That makes things even easier—then you definitely know the rules around here." Spike puffed out his chest, his tone laced with arrogance.

"What rules? I have no idea what you're talking about." He was the one who had crossed the line yesterday; there was zero chance she was apologizing to him.

If anyone was doing the apologizing, it was going to be him.

She might not be a permanent resident, and she didn't like starting fights, but that didn't mean she was afraid of one.

Julius stepped in front of Stella, shielding her, his voice dropping to a dangerous chill. "What exactly do you want?"

If he had known this trash would show up again today, he would have snapped the man's arm yesterday.

Hearing Julius speak, Spike sneered dismissively, addressing Stella in the local slang.

"Listen, sweetheart, what do you even see in this outsider? Sure, he's a bit taller and has a pretty face, but what good is that? You'd be way better off ditching him and coming with me. I promise I'll show you a real good time."

Stella offered him a tight, dangerous smile. "While I still have a shred of patience left, I highly suggest you tuck your tail and roll out of here. Otherwise, you're going to deeply regret it."

Spike barked a laugh, looking back at his crew. "Oh, would you listen to this? This little chick talks a big game!"

His cronies snickered. "Let's see exactly how she's gonna make our guy Spike regret it."

Spike turned back to her, spreading his arms mockingly. "You hear that? My boys want to see how you're gonna make me regret it. We're all waiting."

He took a taunting step forward. "Sweetheart, I'm so scared! Come on, make me regret it."

Even propped up, Spike couldn't straighten his back. The searing pain only fueled his rage. He swore to himself that he was going to lock this vicious woman up and torture her mercilessly.

"You got it, boss. We'll grab her right now. And we'll cripple that pretty boy so he never walks again!"

Hearing they get to take the girl back to play with, his crew instantly perked up, eyes practically glowing with excitement.

And not just out of loyalty—the woman was drop-dead gorgeous.

She was an absolute stunner; any man in his right mind would want a piece of her.

Stella leaned close to Julius and whispered a translation. "They just said they're going to cripple you, and then drag me back to have their way with me."

After translating, she blinked up at him playfully. "Oh no, darling, I've dragged you into my mess. You better run for your life and save yourself. Leave me behind!"
