Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 43

Being stuck in the corporate office every day felt like being in prison. His brother's executive assistant was like a literal robot, never giving him a moment's rest. There was an endless stream of files to sign, meetings to attend, and tedious corporate dinners to host.

He was sick of it! He just wasn't cut out for a nine-to-five office job. The daily grind was sheer torture.

Now, he finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel—his brother was being discharged! From now on, that robot assistant could just deliver all the paperwork straight to the house for Julius to sign. Until Julius's legs were fully healed, he would only step in for meetings and social events. That was it.

He much preferred hanging out at one of the Blackwood Group's subsidiaries. Being a carefree manager was so much better! Whenever he had free time, he could just chill at his bar, turning his brain off and living it up. That was the life he was meant to live!

He enthusiastically pushed the wheelchair over and had two bodyguards carefully lift Julius into it. Grinning from ear to ear, he pushed Julius out of the room himself.

Just as they reached the door, they ran into a middle-aged man—Jason's uncle Abel Blackwood, the director of Brighton Hospital.

"You move fast, kid. I just brought Dr. Lowell up to help take Julius downstairs, and you've already got him in the chair."

"You know it, Uncle. Grandmother is waiting anxiously at home, so I want to get him back as quickly as possible."

"Well, since you don't need our help, go on ahead. Julius, remember to come back for your follow-up appointments."

"I will. Thanks, Uncle Abel."

By the time the three of them reached the ground floor, the driver had already pulled the car up to the entrance.

With the bodyguards' help, Julius got into the car safely, and they slowly drove away from the hospital.

...

A week had passed since Julius was discharged.

His legs were steadily recovering with zero complications.

Nadine was absolutely thrilled. Convinced that Stella was the ultimate good luck charm for her eldest grandson, she treated her like pure gold.

Stella didn't think much of it and simply went about her days eating and sleeping as usual.
