Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 439

Back in their suite.

Lucian and Kane, the man with the skull earrings, had returned from the dining hall and begun packing their bags.

But the moment Lucian finished packing, something felt incredibly wrong.

His skin felt like it was on fire. An intense itch spread over his entire body, and angry red hives began to erupt across his flesh.

He grabbed his phone and called Kane. "Kane, get over to my room. Something's wrong."

When Kane walked in, he found Lucian violently rubbing his back against the wall, trying to scratch the areas he couldn't reach.

Seeing Lucian's face covered in raised red welts, some already bleeding from his frantic scratching, Kane stared in shock. "Lucian, what the hell happened to you?"

"I don't know! I finished packing, and suddenly I'm itching everywhere. It's driving me insane," Lucian gritted out, still frantically clawing at his arms.

Kane frowned. "Did you eat something at the restaurant you're allergic to?"

"No way. I've never had a food allergy in my life. You think that girl did something to me?"

Kane shook his head. "Highly unlikely. I didn't see her try anything, and we were sitting at the same table. I'm perfectly fine, aren't I?"

Lucian's expression darkened. "Don't you think there's something off about her, Kane? The way she played me last night—she wanted to humiliate me. She has a vendetta.

And couldn't you tell she threw the game? If she actually wanted to win, you wouldn't have walked away with the title."

"You really think she's that good? Fine, let's say she is. What exactly could she have done to make you break out like this?"

"Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen. Take you, for example. If you hadn't cheated last night, you really think you'd have won? You rigged the game, and no one caught you either, did they?"

They were partners; Lucian knew exactly what Kane was capable of.

As soon as the doctor fixed him up, he was going to hunt her down and make her pay!

Even without this stunt, he had already planned to make her life a living hell.

With Kane's help, Lucian staggered down to the ship's infirmary.

The cruise ship was scheduled to leave international waters and dock at the designated port for disembarkation at 3:00 PM. They still had a few hours left.

Lucian was hooked up to an IV, trapped in the clinic for hours before he was finally cleared to leave.

By the time he was ready to hunt Stella down, the ship had already docked.

The welts on his skin were still red and inflamed. The treatment hadn't cured him, but everyone was required to disembark. With no other choice, he walked off the ship.

As soon as he stepped off, he had to board a smaller ferry heading to the nearest coastline. The ship's doctor had warned him that he needed to get to a proper hospital immediately, otherwise the scarring could be permanent.
