It wasn't that Stella Hawthorne didn't care about money. She knew perfectly well that all the cash in the world was utterly useless if you didn't have a life left to spend it—unless she planned on staying in this hellhole forever.
Since that was the case, why not be generous?
This way, Lucian Vance would owe her a favor, and she could use it to pull some strings.
She considered it the price of buying a girl's life.
They were fellow citizens, both women. She simply couldn't stomach the thought of leaving her to such a gruesome fate.
Lucian thought for a moment before answering, "I can get her for you. But you need to think this through. Is Tiger really going to let you bring an extra person back to his villa?"
Stella calmly replied, "You don't need to worry about that, Mr. Vance. I'll handle him."
Seeing her absolute confidence that Tiger would agree, Lucian had no choice but to concede. "I'll bring her to you tomorrow. Whether you can keep her alive is up to you."
The Rose Compound didn't feed idle mouths, and they certainly didn't keep people around who had no value.
"Then you have my thanks, Mr. Vance. I'll be heading back now. Goodbye."
Stella shot a brief look at Luke Lowell and walked out of the VIP room.
After she left, Kane turned to Lucian. "Are you really going to hit up Paula and ask for that girl?"
"Of course. She just did us a massive favor, didn't she?"
He had given her his word, and he wasn't about to lose face in front of a woman.
She was Tiger's woman now. They were going to be seeing a lot of each other.
He definitely didn't want to fail at a simple request and have her mock him for breaking his promises every time they crossed paths.
After leaving Lucian's territory, Stella went straight to find Fenton.
Their time at the poker table hadn't just been a simple battle of wits and wagers.
