Two hours later, a video skyrocketed to the top of the trending charts.
...
Inside the Blackwood Group CEO's office.
Julius Blackwood was reviewing documents when his phone began to buzz on the desk.
Glancing at the caller ID, he saw it was Marsh. He picked it up. "Speak."
Marsh's voice crackled with excitement over the line. "Boss, you have to check the top trending headline right now!"
Julius opened Headlinez. Sitting right at the number one spot was a video clip.
The title read: SO SATISFYING! One-Move Knockout! #ArenaMoments #TheRecessClub.
It was posted by a user named "CantStandYou," and it had clawed its way to the top of the charts in just two hours.
Julius tapped play. The whole thing was over in less than thirty seconds.
A girl in a fox mask and twin braids stood in the ring, casually disrespected a massive brute, and then violently launched him out of the arena with a single kick.
The location was clearly the Recess Club.
Marsh was still on the line. Judging that Julius had finished watching, his excited voice returned. "Boss, is that pigtail girl the one you've been looking for?"
Julius ignored the direct question. "Pull the security footage from the Recess Club. See if you can get a clear shot of the girl's face. And have that trending video scrubbed from the internet."
"Yes, Boss."
After hanging up, Julius replayed the video, watching it meticulously from start to finish.
Who was this girl?
Why did her silhouette feel so strangely familiar?
Was she the same girl who had saved him two years ago?
He had been relentlessly searching for her for two years without a single lead. Even after his recent accident that ruined his legs, he hadn't given up, keeping Marsh on the hunt in secret.
