Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 557

"Mr. Rox, could I ask you a question?"

Seeing him completely lost in his tragic memories, looking so profoundly heartbroken, Stella couldn't help but speak up to pull him back to the present.

Errol snapped out of his daze, blinking his reddened eyes. "You can ask me anything you want."

"Were you the one who took my mother's ashes?"

Stella asked point-blank. She had searched for clues about her mother's urn for so long without a single lead, and even with Julius's help, they had turned up nothing.

Now that a man harboring such deep devotion to her mother had suddenly appeared, she made a bold guess. He was the one who swapped the urn, wasn't he? He certainly had the resources to pull it off.

Furthermore, he had just mentioned sending people to track down her mother's whereabouts. They must have discovered she had passed away, located her grave, and quietly swapped out her ashes.

Errol nodded, admitting it openly. "Yes, I took your mother's ashes. I only became the true head of the Rox family six years ago.

Once I finally had absolute power, I immediately sent men to Veridia Country to conduct a thorough investigation into your mother. It took an incredible amount of effort to find out she had married Frederick Hawthorne,

but she was already gone. I was so consumed by my grief and longing for her that I had an exact replica of the urn made,

and I quietly swapped it to bring her ashes back with me. Your mother's ashes are with me now. Would you like to take her back?"

He hadn't known what else to do. By the time he finally had the power to protect her, the woman he loved was dead. He simply missed her too much.

Stella considered this before replying, "Mr. Rox, please let me take her home. My mother's homeland is Veridia Country, and I believe she missed her home.

Let me lay her to rest in her homeland. I've already chosen a beautiful spot with mountains and a river. She will love it there."

Errol replied sadly, "Alright. I will let you take her ashes back. I will visit her every year, and I hope you will allow me to pay my respects."

"Of course."
