If Stella hadn't been so completely incompetent, blowing her cover at the Blackwood Manor almost immediately, the Blackwood family's butler wouldn't have shown up demanding the massive wedding fund back.
If that money was still in the family accounts, Chloe could have easily manipulated her father into buying her a luxury apartment.
Thank god she and her mother managed to convince him to auction off that necklace Stella's mother left behind. The allowance she got from that payout was the only silver lining.
Thinking about all of this, Chloe's eyes darkened with pure malice. "Rhoda, think about it. If Stella is out here sleeping around at a bar...
what if we get pictures? With that kind of leverage, we could turn her into our personal ATM. The Blackwoods are filthy rich."
Rhoda's eyes lit up with predatory excitement. "I love the sound of that. And as luck would have it, I've got a little something special right here. One sip, and she'll be begging for it."
Though the Ford family was wealthy, Rhoda was an illegitimate daughter with zero status and barely any financial support. She was constantly strapped for cash.
If she could bleed some money out of Stella, she'd finally be able to fund her lifestyle.
After all, Stella was just a country bumpkin despised by her own family. She had no one to protect her. Handing up an opportunity to extort her would be a total waste.
Without missing a beat, Rhoda slipped a powdered substance into a fresh glass of liquor and gave it a gentle swirl.
"Now we just need to figure out how to get her to drink this, and we'll have all the scandalous photos we need to own her."
Chloe smiled, brimming with confidence. "Leave that to me. Here's what we're gonna do."
She leaned in and whispered her entire scheme into Rhoda's ear.
Rhoda nodded along, a wicked grin spreading across her face. "Got it. Let's split up and make it happen."
Setting her own glass aside, Rhoda strutted over to Stella's table. "Excuse me, Ms. Hawthorne. There's a man out on the terrace asking for you. Says his name is Blackwood, and he needs to speak with you immediately."
Stella eyed the scantily clad woman standing before her, dissecting the words.
