Serena Sargent sounded utterly defeated. "Ms. Hawthorne, just like you said, I came here tonight to meet that older man."
Stella Hawthorne pulled her toward the exit. "This isn't the place to talk. Come with me."
She led Serena back to the private dining room where they had just eaten and promptly kicked Julius Blackwood and Kyson Sterling out.
"Wait outside. I have some things to discuss with my friend."
Julius and Kyson found themselves booted from the room without any explanation.
The two men exchanged bewildered glances, neither knowing what had just happened.
Still, they wouldn't dare defy Stella's orders, and Julius even thoughtfully closed the door behind him.
Serena looked anxious. "Ms. Hawthorne, won't they be mad that you just kicked them out like that?"
She had met both of those men before. One was Stella's husband, whom she had seen in North Myanor when he personally came to bring his wife home.
The other man was someone no one in Bay City wouldn't recognize. He was once known as the Demon King of Bay City, and now he was the CEO of Astral Pharmaceuticals.
Ms. Hawthorne was truly incredible. Two incredibly outstanding men had left the moment she told them to, and she hadn't even been polite about it.
"It's fine. One is my husband and the other is a very good friend. They won't get mad."
Stella poured her a glass of water. "Alright, now tell me what's going on with you."
Serena grasped the glass with both hands. She took a sip, drew in a deep breath, and slowly began.
"Three years ago, a former classmate of my dad's needed capital for his business and applied for a three-million-dollar bank loan.
