Clutching her stinging cheek, Chloe screamed through her tears, "Why should I? I've slept in that room since I was a little girl! Why do I have to give it to her? I'm the true daughter of the Hawthorne family!"

Furious at her absolute lack of tact and her inability to help him save face in front of Julius, Frederick slapped her again, roaring, "This is what you get for being so ignorant and poorly raised!"

Seeing that her father was genuinely enraged, Chloe clamped her mouth shut, too terrified to speak.

Miranda rushed forward to hold him back. "Just talk to her! Why are you hitting our daughter?"

Frederick didn't give her a shred of sympathy either. "This is all your fault! Look at the monster you've raised!"

After venting his fury, he turned back to urge Stella and Julius to stay for lunch, only to realize they were already gone.

Hearing this, Chloe wiped her tears and sniffled pitifully. "Daddy, this marriage was supposed to be mine.
