"Stella, I was completely out of line the other day. I shouldn't have put you in such a difficult position. Today's meal is my way of apologizing, and I hope you won't hold it against your father."
Miranda enthusiastically handed her a beverage. "There's no such thing as an unforgivable grudge between father and daughter. Everything's fine now that we've talked it out. Stella, let's drink this and put the past behind us, alright?"
Taking the glass, Stella generously replied, "Alright."
She tipped her head back and took a sip of the drink.
Miranda continued warmly urging her to eat. "This fish is incredibly fresh, you have to taste it. And this seasonal vegetable was bought first thing this morning—it's so crisp and tender. Give it a try."
Miranda even served some onto Stella's plate.
Stella didn't refuse, casually eating a bit of whatever Miranda recommended.
Since they had gone through all the trouble of preparing this, it would be a shame to waste their 'good intentions,' wouldn't it?
"Mm, this is pretty good. You two should eat as well. It's just a meal, why do you look so nervous?"
The food was genuinely delicious, which meant Frederick and Miranda had truly put effort into this setup.
Frederick awkwardly replied, "Why would we be nervous? We're just happy because it's been so long since we've all eaten together. Yes, let's all eat."
Miranda quickly agreed. "Yes, yes, let's eat."
Stella waited until she felt adequately full before setting down her fork. "I'm full. You can give me my mother's ashes now."
Frederick quickly agreed, "Of course. Since you're full, why don't you go rest on the sofa for a moment, and I'll go grab your mother's ashes for you right now."
Stella stood up, turning to leave the dining table, but a sudden wave of dizziness hit her. She collapsed back into her chair, slumping over the table, entirely unconscious.
"Hurry, help her to the bedroom. This stubborn brat finally took the bait. We actually managed to knock her out."
