Fortunately, Clara had eventually gotten sick and died, leaving him free to marry the woman he actually loved, Miranda.
And honestly, it was a good thing Stella had returned. He could use her to pocket the massive wedding fund, and later exploit her position to extract even more favors for the Hawthornes.
Appeased by her parents' logic, Chloe finally settled down. "Then you need to send her to the Blackwoods immediately."
"We know. I'll talk to her shortly," Frederick assured her.
...
Meanwhile, Stella took a quick lap around the dining room and kitchen. Just as she had suspected—no one had made her breakfast.
She wasn't angry. She simply walked to the entryway, changed into her outdoor shoes, grabbed her phone, and headed for the front door.
Miranda nudged Frederick's arm and shot him a pointed look.
"Stella, where do you think you're going?" Frederick called out, stopping her in her tracks.
"Out to get breakfast. I'm starving. Don't expect me to bring you anything back, though. I'm broke, and I'll be lucky to feed myself."
She knew perfectly well they had already eaten; she just said it to be obnoxious.
Chloe couldn't help but sneer, "Look at how pathetic you are. We already ate. Nobody asked you to bring anything back."
Stella nodded thoughtfully. "Oh, got it. In that case, I won't go out."
With that, she kicked off her outdoor shoes and slipped back into her slippers.
As the three Hawthornes exchanged bewildered glances, completely failing to understand what she meant, Stella suddenly sprinted to the corner of the living room and hoisted up the power saw she'd brought yesterday.
Seeing her grab the monstrous tool, Frederick's heart skipped a beat. "What are you doing?!"
Stella blew a stray lock of hair out of her eyes and smiled. "I'm going to saw the dining table and the fridge in half."
