Rebirth Into My Second Chance novel Chapter 329

“Now what?”

“What else? We pretend we're a fishing couple out on the water. Those are just ordinary maritime patrol boats, neutral. But we need to figure out who tipped them off to come check on us.”

Just then, someone who looked like a maritime police officer jumped onto our boat. “What are you doing here?”

Garrett kept me encircled in his arms, his back straight. With a roguish air, he offered them a few cigarettes. Dressed in his fisherman's clothes, he looked the part perfectly. “We’re just fishermen, out for a catch.”

As he was trying to charm them, he let me go, pushing me behind him for protection.

The moment the officer took the cigarette, Garrett's expression turned grim. He took a step back and pulled me into his arms again.

“I need Helen to get you out of here,” he whispered, his voice tight with tension.

“What about you?”

“I’ll hold them off. They’re not real police. The ship is empty; I already had the supplies airlifted to Richard.”

With that, he went to distract the fake officers, inviting them for a drink.

I stood frozen for a second before it clicked. I ran to find Helen and saw several fake officers below, inspecting our ship.

Thank goodness the supplies were already gone. Garrett had suspected that even with Babur acting as a decoy, anyone determined enough would still find them.

Garrett’s mind was as meticulous and sharp as Max’s. They were twins, after all; their intelligence wouldn’t be that different.

“I’ve got a speedboat ready. Let’s get out of here. I’ve already contacted our people on shore. We should reach land in ten minutes,” Helen said, pulling me onto the prepared raft. The impostors were still on the ship, diligently searching for whatever they thought we were smuggling into Bravenland.
