Chapter 102
LUMINA
I sat in the living room, holding a cup of coffee which was the only thing kelping me together after last night’s fiasco

I was watching the boys play quietly. Riley was positioned in the corner with a book that he was reading silently, even the page turns were something
one had to strain their ears to hear, while Ollie pushed his toy trucks around the carpet restlessly like he was doing it just to keep himself busy rather than
enjoying it. Neither of them seemed particularly interested in their activities, and I could tell they were both still processing what had happened at school.
“Mommy, Ollie had said earlier that morning, after breakfast, looking a bit nervous “when is Riley going back to his house?”
The question had caught me off guard. It looked like Ollie didn’t want Riley to leave and he was trying to ask me if I was going to let him go. Or maybe
Ollie wasn’t happy with Riley here after the accident that nobody was coming forth with the information and wanted him to leave.
Despite everything that had happened, despite the tension between Xenois and me, I’d grown attached to Riley during his stay with us. He was a sweet
boy, even if there was something about him that seemed… different and odd at most times.
“I don’t know, sweetheart,” I had answered honestly. “We haven’t been able to reach his mother yet.”
Now, as I watched them play, I couldn’t help but notice how Riley kept fidgeting with the necklace around his neck. It was similar to the one Xenois alwayss wore on his neck, the one Sophia had given him years ago. I’d never asked him about it because I knew it was going to lead back to Sophia and the fact that they had a loving relationship before I entered the picture, and I’d learned to pick my battles when it came to Sophia Kingston.
Riley suddenly looked up from his book and approached me, his eyes looking mature beyond his years.
‘Mrs. Lumina,” he said quietly, like he was afraid of making a noise “has my mom called yet?”
I felt my heart twist at the hopeful expression in his voice and on his face. “Not yet, sweetheart. But I’m sure she’ll contact us soon.”
He nodded his head slowly accepting the answer and returned to his book, but I could see the disappointment in his small shoulders. Something about his reaction bothered me, but I couldn’t put my finger on what it was.
My phone buzzed with a text from an unknown number. I frowned, opening the message cautiously.
“This is Sophia. I got injured and I’m in the hospital. Your husband and mother-in-law are already here fussing over me. Thought you should know.”
The message was followed by a photo that made my blood run cold. It showed Sophia in a hospital bed, her face bruised and bandaged, with Xenois sitting beside her looking worried while Silvia stood on the other side looking concerned about what happened to her.
But that wasn’t what made my hands shake as I held the phone. It was the second photo biological father.
– a paternity test result that clearly showed Xenois as Riley’s

Another message came through, following the second picture underneath: “Your husband is Riley’s father, and he’s been keeping it secret from you. dare you to come to the hospital and see for yourself, Room 438 at General Hospital. I’m being discharged today and moving in with Xenois where I belong.
I stared at the screen, reading the words over and over again, trying to make sense of what I was seeing, because this had to be one big joke.. Riley was Xenois’s son? How was that possible? When could this have happened?
“Thorne,’ I called out, my voice sounding surprisingly steady despite the chas that was running amok in my mind.
‘I need to run to the pharmacy to pick up some medication for my headache Can you watch the boys for a bit?”

He leaned on the doorway looking concerned as he asked.
“Are you okay, Luna? You look pale.”
‘I’m fine, I lied, grabbing my purse and keys. T’ll be back in an hour.”
The drive to the hospital passed quickly as I felt myself going through the mition, zoning in and out.

My mind was filled with questions and possibilities, each one more devastating than the last. If Riley was Xenois’s son, when did this happen? Has my husband been unfaithful during our marriage? Or was this some sick game Sophia was playing?
I parked outside General Hospital and made my way to the fourth floor, my heart pounding faster with each step that I took.
Room 438 was at the end of the corridor, and as I approached, I could hear voices coming from inside. The door was slightly ajar, and I pressed myself against the wall to listen.
-can’t keep this from her forever, Xenois,” Silvia was saying. “Lumina deserves to know the truth about Riley’s parentage.”
‘I know, Mother,” Xenois replied, his voice filled with exhaustion.
“I just… I still don’t understand how this happened. I have no memory of being with Sophia during my marriage to Lumina.”
‘Sometimes these things happen in ways we don’t expect,” Silvia said. “The important thing is that you do right by your other son now.”
‘Riley is my son,” Xenois said quietly like he couldn’t still believe it, and I heard the wonder in his voice.
“My biological son. The DNA test confirms it.”
I felt like I’d been punched in the gut. Hearing him say those words, made I real in a way that reading the text message hadn’tz because back then, I was under the delusion that Sophia was just trying to piss me off intentionally by saying such nonsense. But for Xenois to confirm it himself. I felt betrayed.
Unable to contain myself any longer, I pushed
Pen the door and burst into the room.
“How dare you!” I screamed, my voice echoing off the hospital walls. “How dare you do this to me?”
