I couldn’t get the image of Lumina’s face out of my mind as I left the hospit. The hurt in her eyes, the way she’d looked at me like I was a stranger, it made my heart ache and haunted me with every step that I took.
But the evidence was overwhelming. The men who had attacked Sophia had confessed, under Alpha command no less, to make sure that they were
saying the truth and not trying to frame an innocent woman that Lumina had hired them.
But still, I had to know for certain.
The police station was abuzz with lights, officers and murmured conversation as soon as they saw me and I demanded to speak with the attackers
myself.
Detective Morrison, a grizzled man who’d worked with our pack for years, led me to the interrogation room, without wasting my time.
“Alpha Xenois,” he said quietly, trying to fill me in without the others hearing us, “I have to warn you, what they’re saying about your wife… it’s pretty
damning.”
I nodded my head as I gritted my teeth. ‘I need to hear it from them directly
The two men sat chained to the metal table, as they were both looking rough around the edges, they had tattoos all over their body and dead eyes. They
looked up when I entered, and I immediately let my Alpha presence fill the room
“Tell me exactly what happened,” I commanded immediately, not wasting time to hear their pleas, my voice carrying the supernatural weight and
backing that made it impossible for them to lie to me.
“Who hired you to attack Sophia Kingston?”
The first man, a bald guy with a scar across his cheek, spoke without hesitation.
*The blonde woman. Luna Lumina. She found us at Mickey’s Bar three nights ago. Said she’d pay us five grand to rough up some bitch who was trying to
steal her husband.”
“Describe her,’ I said, my heart sinking at this.
“Tall, blonde hair, green eyes. Real pretty but cold, you know? She knew things about us, things we had done and about our records. Said if we didn’t do
it, she’d make sure we went back to prison anyway.”
The second man nodded his head as he added as well.
“She gave us the address, showed us a picture of the target that we were supposed to go after. Said to make it look like a robbery gone wrong, but to
make sure the house burned down.””
“Did she say anything else?”
“Yeah,” the first man said. “She said the woman had it coming for a while no That she’d been trying to destroy her family and this was the only way to stop her from doing anything else to her family. That she had to get rid of her.”
I used my Alpha command again, pushing harder, trying to see if there wasmething else that would come out differently, that would exonerate
Lumina from these crimes pinned on her.

Chapter 110
‘Is there anything you’re not telling me? Any details you’re leaving out?”
Both men sank heavily against the compulsion as I could see the fear and they repeated the story, but nothing changed in their story. Under Alpha command, they were physically incapable of lying.

Detective Morrison pulled me aside afterward. “Alpha, we need to bring your wife in for questioning. This is attempted murder and arson we’re talking
about.”
“I’ll handle this,” I said firmly. “Give me twenty-four hours.”
“Xenois-
‘Twenty-four hours,” I repeated, my voice brooking no argument. “Then I’ll bring her in myself.”
As I left the station, my phone rang. My mother’s number flashed on the screen.
‘Xenois, you need to come back to the hospital immediately,” she said without wasting time as she went on speaking. “Sophia’s being discharged, and
she has nowhere to go.”
