Chapter 117

‘Not completely,” I said, wiping away tears and taking a deep breath as I pulled dry pajamas from his backpack.

“But his eyes changed, and the fangs… I’ve never seen anything like it. He was so angry, so full of rage, and then afterward he seemed

confused, like he didn’t understand what he’d done.”

“Daddy,” Ollie mumbled again, his eyes still closed but his face was squeezed up in distress.

“Daddy, I’m hot. I’m so hot…”

I placed my hand on his forehead and immediately pulled it back. His skin was burning up, this wasn’t normal at all. I could barely

touch him.

“Oh God,” I whispered, feeling a bit panicked as my breath started coming out in short gasps.. “He’s burning up. This isn’t normal.”

Lynn’s expression changed from worry to concern as she spoke.

“Sometimes children manifest very early after being exposed to extreme stress,” she said quietly. “I’ve heard of it happening, but never in someone so young. And never with this kind of drive.”

She moved to the bedside table and pressed a button I hadn’t noticed before. Almost immediately, a voice came through what must

have been an intercom system.

“Yes, Luna?” came the response.

“Send for Dr. Reeves immediately,” Lynn said immediately, not skipping a beat.

“We have a medical emergency in the guest suite. A child is suffering from premature wolf transformation.”

“Right away, Luna, the voice replied.

I looked at Lynn with confusion and curiosity on my face.

‘Luna?” I asked.

She glanced at me, and I saw something pass quickly in her eyes.

It almost seemed like hesitation but it was gone too quickly for me to pay any attention.

“It’s… it’s just what they call me,” she said quickly, turning her attention back to Ollie. ‘Don’t worry about titles right now. Let’s focus

on getting him help.”

“I should never have brought him here,” I said, my voice filled with guilt as I gently smoothened his damp hair away from his burning

forehead.

“I should have found another way. I should have stayed and tried to work things out with Xenois.”

“Don’t blame yourself,” Lynn said firmly, shaking her head as she added.

“You did what you thought was best for your son. Sometimes there are no perfect choices, only the ones we can live with.”

Dr. Reeves arrived within minutes, she was a middle-aged woman with kind brown eyes who seemed well knowledgeable in what she was doing and. Immediately took charge of the situation. She examined Ollie thoroughly, checking his temperature, pulse, and breathing

while asking me detailed questions about what had happened.

“The early manifestation has destabilized his wolf,” she explained after completing her examination, turning to face me.

“His body is trying to adapt to abilities it’s not ready for at the moment and being in unfamiliar territory is making it worse.”

“What does that mean?” I asked, my voice, low enough that I could barely hear myself.

“A young wolf, especially an Alpha heir, needs familiar scents surrounding him to maintain stability at this particular point in his life”

Dr. Reeves said gently. “His wolf is basically calling for his father. The bond between an Alpha and his heir is very crucial for the

child’s development and wellbeing.”

I felt like I’d been punched in the stomach. “So bringing him here… I’ve made him sick?”

“You couldn’t have known this would happen,” Dr. Reeves said kindly. “But yes, being separated from his father and his home territory is causing his system to go into distress.”

“Is there anything we can do?” I asked desperately. “Some way to help him without…”

Without taking him back to Xenois, I couldn’t bring myself to say. Not when I’d just found the courage to leave.
