“Maybe,” I said, watching him walk toward the stairs. “We’ll see.”

As soon as he was out of sight, I pulled out my phone and dialed Andy’s number. My hands were shaking a bit as I waited for her to answer, partly from anger and partly from the desperate need to fix this issue before it got out of my control.

“Sophia?” Andy’s voice sounded cautious when she picked up. She hesitated for a moment, breathing deeply before she added

“I wasn’t expecting to hear from you so soon. How did things go at the hospital? Did the thugs hurt you too badly?”

“I’m healed from that, they did good job. But it’s not just that. It’s Xenois,” I said, my voice bitter. “He treated me like garbage, Andy.

After everything I’ve done for him, after six years of pining for him from the sidelines and I finally got to stand by his side and then, he

acted like I was some kind of parasite.”

There was a pause on the other end of the line. “What exactly happened?”

I told her everything – Xenois’s harsh words, the incident that led to his hospitalization, his dismissal when I was trying to show him

that I cared, the way he’d looked at me with such disgust. By the time I finished, tears of frustration were rolling down my face.

“I need something stronger,” I said desperately. “The spells you’ve been using aren’t enough. He needs to forget about Lumina

completely. He needs to see me as his only option, his true mate.”

“Sophia,” Andy said quietly, “I think it’s time for you to hear something important, I said this before but it seemed like you thought I

was just saying it for saying sake. This is the last time we’re doing business together.”

The words hit me like a slap as my eyes widened in surprise. “What? What do you mean that you aren’t helping me anymore? You

can’t be serious.”

“I am completely serious,” Andy said sounding certain on the line as she added.

“I’m done with this, Sophia. I’m done helping you control an innocent man without his knowledge and destroy his family.”

I felt panic building up in my chest when I heard this from her. “You can’t leave me now! Not when I’m so close to getting what I

want!”

‘Close to what?” Andy asked, her voice sharp. “Xenois made it clear today that he wants nothing to do with you. His mate and child are gone, and instead of being grateful for your support, he’s disgusted by your presence. Don’t you see? The magic isn’t working anymore because his true feelings are breaking through.”

“Then we need stronger magic!” I insisted, my voice rising with desperation and anger as I wanted her to see things from my point of view. I was almost there. Lumina and Ollie were gone. I just needed to make sure that they stayed home. “Something that will make him forget his precious Lumina ever existed!”

“Listen to me very carefully,” Andy said, sounding deadly serious for the first time ever in the whole time that I had known her.

“If you don’t stop this madness, you’re going to get yourself killed. Once Xenois discovers that you’ve been magically manipulating him for six years, that you’ve been the cause of his marital problems, he will rip you apart with his bare hands.”

“He won’t find out,” I said quickly. “There’s no way he could-

“There are ways,” Andy interrupted. “Magical residue can be detected by someone who knows what to look for. The only reason why

he hasn’t done it yet is because he is not aware that magic had a hand in destroying his marriage and he thinks it’s mainly his actions. If he realizes that something doesn’t add up somewhere and if he brings in the right kind of healer or witch, they’ll be able to trace

everything back to you.”

I felt my stomach drop. “You’re trying to scare me.”
