“Hey there, buddy,” I said softly, returning his hug with equal enthusiasm. “How are you feeling?”

“So much better! Ollie exclaimed, pulling back to beam up at me.

“The doctors said I’m completely healthy now, all because of what you did. Thank you for saving me, Lyn. You’re like a superhero!”

His innocent gratitude made my throat tighten with emotion. “You don’t need to thank me, Ollie. I’m just glad you’re okay.”

“Lyn, I’m so glad to see you up and around, Lumina said, approaching us with a warm smile that didn’t quite hide the exhaustion in

her eyes. “I’ve been so worried about you since the ritual. Are you sure you should be out of bed already?”

Before I could answer, she wrapped me in a gentle hug that carried all the gratitude she couldn’t put into words.

‘Awkward,’ he finished, his voice slightly hoarse. “Very, very awkward. But I’m the one who should apologize for nearly strangling

The way he stumbled over describing my relationship with Zade made me wonder exactly how much he’d seen, and what conclusions

he’d drawn from it. The memory of that kiss sent another wave of heat through my body, and I had to look away to collect myself.

“What’s wrong?” Lumina asked, looking between her mate and me with obvious concern. “You both look like you’ve seen a ghost.”

Xenois made a strangled sound that might have been an attempt at laughter. “It’s nothing, love. Just… man stuff. You wouldn’t

understand.”

I had to bite my lip to keep from smiling at his obvious discomfort. The powerful Alpha who could face down armies of enemies was

completely flustered by the memory of walking in on what he thought was an intimate moment between two men.
