Chapter 241
XENOIS

The planning that involved using vampires as a mode of transportation proved more complicated than I’d initially anticipated. We had
to figure out the most efficient way for four vampires to carry four people across ten thousand miles at inhuman speed without anyone
getting injured in the process.
Marcus immediately moved to Carol’s side, wrapping his arms around her waist so easily in a way that clearly showed that they’d
done this before. “I’ve got Carol,” he said simply.
Kyle looked at me with obvious distaste, his lip curling slightly as he sized me up. “I suppose I’m stuck with the Alpha,” he muttered,
clearly unhappy about having to carry a werewolf.
“Personal grievances aside,” I said firmly, meeting his gaze directly, “this is about the mission. We can sort out our differences later.”
Kyle nodded grudgingly. “Fine. But if you throw up on me, I’m dropping you.”
The arrangement of my parents proved more challenging. XY approached my mother with professional courtesy, but my father’s eyes
flashed with possessive anger.
“No one puts their hands on my mate, Samuel growled, his wolf rising to the surface at the thought of another male touching Silvia.
“Samuel,” my mother said sharply, placing a calming hand on his arm, sharing her head yet knowing why he was behaving this way.
*This is necessary. We don’t have time for posturing.”
My father’s jaw clenched, but he stepped back reluctantly, seeing that it had to be done, in as much as he hated it. “Fine. But if you
so much as-
‘I’ll treat her with the utmost respect,” XY interrupted smoothly, already knowing what he wanted to say. “You have my word.”
Before we departed, XY produced a small spray bottle filled with what looked like dark red liquid.
“Everyone needs to be doused with this, he announced, beginning to spray the liquid over all the non-vampires in our group.
The smell hit my sensitive nose immediately, and I had to fight not to gag. It was blood, but not just any blood. This had the
distinctive scent of something young, innocent, and completely defenseless.
“What exactly is that?” my mother asked, wrinkling her nose in disgust as the spray settled on her clothes and skin.
“Blood perfume,” Kyle explained casually. “It’ll mask your werewolf scents and make you seem like halfbloods to anyone who gets
close enough to smell you. Werewolves have a dead foul scent to the everyone else, so unless you want to be walking baits, be my guest.”

Chapter 241
“This smells like it came from a newborn child, Silvia said, her voice filled with revulsion and barely contained rage.
Kyle’s expression hardened. “Don’t point fingers when you wolves talk to imaginary voices in your head and howl at the moon like
animals.”
My wolf surged forward at the blatant disrespect, a low growl rumbling from my chest before I could stop it. The sound made all
three vampires tense, their own instincts responding to the challenge, as they looked ready for a fight. Vampires were stronger,
depending on their last blood intake, but I could keep up with them.
“Enough,” Marcus said quickly, stepping between us before the situation could escalate. “We’re all on the same side here. Save the
racial disputes for after we deal with Andy.”
Kyle and I stared at each other for another tense moment before I forced my wolf back down. He was right about one thing – we
couldn’t afford internal conflicts right now.
“Ready?” Kashton asked, positioning himself to carry my father.
Before anyone could respond, the world became a blur of motion. The sensation of vampire speed was unlike anything I’d ever experienced – like being inside a tornado while simultaneously falling through space. My stomach lurched violently as we covered impossible distances in mere seconds, the landscape below us streaking by too fast for my brain to process.
Then, just as suddenly as it had begun, the movement stopped.

I found myself standing in a narrow alley, my legs shaking as I tried to orient myself to solid ground again. The transition from supernatural speed to stillness left me dizzy and nauseous, fighting to keep my balance as the world seemed to continue spinning around
me:
Carol wasn’t as fortunate. The moment Marcus set her down, she collapsed to her knees and began retching violently. Marcus immediately knelt beside her, rubbing her back and murmuring words of comfort.
“Easy,” he said gently. “The disorientation passes quickly. Just breathe.”
Kyle looked at me with amusement, clearly enjoying my obvious struggle with the aftereffects of vampire transport. “Better not throw up,” he reminded me with a smirk. “I warned you about that.”
I gritted my teeth and forced myself to stand straight, refusing to give him the satisfaction of seeing me weak. Gradually, the spinning sensation began to fade, and I was able to focus on our surroundings.
Shadow City lived up to its name. Even though it was daytime, the narrow alley we’d landed in was shrouded in an unnatural gloom that seemed to absorb light rather than reflect it. The buildings around us were tall and imposing, built from dark stone that gave off an
aura of menace.
We
were still getting our bearings when voices echoed from the mouth of the alley. A group of five or six figures had gathered around someone on the ground, their body language aggressive and threatening.

“What do we have here?’ one of them called out, noticing our group. More tourists come to see the freak show?”
Marcus immediately took control of the situation, stepping forward with the confident air of someone who belonged here. “What’s
happening?” he asked casually. “Who’s your friend there?”

The apparent leader of the group, a tall man with intricate tattoos covering his arms, gestured dismissively toward their victim.
“Werewolf,” he spat. “Found him sniffing around the outskirts of the city. We’re planning a little barbecue in the town square, if you want
to join us.”
My blood turned to ice at his words. They had captured a werewolf and were planning to burn him alive as some kind of public
entertainment. Every instinct I had screamed at me to intervene, to shift and tear these sadistic bastards apart.
“We’ll be there,” Marcus said smoothly, his voice giving no hint of his true feelings about the situation.
I started to step forward, my wolf demanding action, but Kyle’s hand clamped down on my arm with crushing force.
“Don’t, he whispered urgently. “You’ll blow our cover before we even start looking for Andy.”
