Rebirth of the Broken Luna A Second Chance at Luna's Heart novel Chapter 256

Chapter 256

Andy laughed, the sound sharp and cruel in the confined space. “Your people? You mean the werewolves who barely tolerate your existence? The pack that’s so ashamed of what you really are that they keep your true nature secret?”

I saw confusion flicker in Lyn’s eyes, followed by something that might have been fear.

“That’s right,” Andy continued, settling back in her chair like she was preparing to tell a bedtime story.

“Lake here is a werewitch, just like you. Isn’t that interesting? Two of the same rare breed, brought together under such unfortunate

circumstances.”

My hand stilled for a moment. I hadn’t known that about the healer – Andy hadn’t told me his specific supernatural heritage. But it made sense now, why his healing abilities were so strong, why he could repair damage that would be permanent for most people.

“The difference,” Andy went on, “is that Lake understands his place in the world. He knows that beings like you like both of you – are viewed as abominations by pure werewolves. Neither fully wolf nor fully witch, belonging to neither world completely.”

I could see the healer processing this information, his eyes darting between Andy and me. He was trying to find some way to use this revelation, some angle that might help him escape or turn me against my creator.

“Lake,” Lyn said quietly, his voice taking on a different tone. “If you’re a werewitch too, then you know what it’s like to feel different. To feel like you don’t quite fit anywhere. But that doesn’t mean you have to let her use you like this.”

“Your own mate doesn’t even acknowledge what you are publicly,” Andy added with vicious satisfaction.

“He chose your twin sister Lynn to be his Luna instead of you, because he was ashamed to be connected to something as unnatural as

a werewitch.”

The words hit their target. I could see the pain in Lyn’s eyes intensify beyond anything my scalpel had caused. Andy had found his weakness the fear that he wasn’t truly accepted by the people he loved.

“They would never understand you the way I understand Lake,’ Andy continued. “Werewolves are racist against all supernatural beings who aren’t pure werewolf. They tolerate you because you’re useful as a healer, but they’ll never truly accept you as an equal.”

“That’s not true,” Lyn said desperately, but I could hear the doubt creeping into his voice.

“Isn’t it? Where are they now? Why haven’t they come for you yet? Could it be that losing their dirty little secret might actually be a

relief for them?”

I watched the healer struggle with Andy’s words, saw the way they burrowed into his mind like parasites.

This was what Andy was truly masterful at – not just physical torture, but the kind of psychological warfare that could break someone’s spirit completely.

Chapter 256

“Lake, she said, turning her attention to me, “what is your sole purpose?”

The answer came automatically, drilled into me through years of conditioning. “To be loyal to the person I care about most.”

“And who is that person?”

I opened my mouth to give the expected response – “You, Andy” – but something made me hesitate. A flicker of memory, a ghost of

feeling from before she’d found me and rebuilt me. A face that I’d once trusted completely, once loved without reservation.

“Riley,” I whispered, the name slipping out before I could stop it.

Andy’s expression darkened. “Riley abandoned you. He chose his new family over you. He forgot you existed the moment he found

people who could give him what he wanted.”

“I know,” I said quickly, trying to cover my mistake. “I know he abandoned me. That’s why I’m loyal to you now.”
