Chapter 102 Still Waiting
“Come on. Let’s try again.”
Noelle supported Sebastian, smiling brightly, without a trace of impatience.

Sebastian nodded and slowly pushed himself up again, bracing his hands on both sides of the wheelchair. This time, he rose higher than before, almost fully upright.
Even Noelle was shocked. She was just about to say, “Honey, you almost stood up,” when Sebastian suddenly frowned and started to fall again.
“Hey!”
Caught off guard, Noelle was pulled down with him and fell straight into his arms. Sebastian quickly reached out and caught her, wrapping both arms around her waist.
Noelle landed against him.
Sebastian let out a restrained grunt.
Noelle immediately felt something hard press against her. She was not some innocent girl, so she knew exactly what it was. Her face flushed for a split second, but when she noticed Sebastian was blushing even harder than she was a mischievous spark lit up in her eyes.
With deliberate mischief, she shifted slightly in his arms, wrapped her hands around his arm, and laughed playfully. “Oh my god, that scared me. I thought I was really going to fall. Good thing you caught me, honey.”
Sebastian’s dark eyes fixed on her, deep and unreadable. Suddenly, he leaned forward, his face slowly moving closer.
As his handsome face drew near, Noelle could not help holding her breath.
She swallowed lightly.
Wait. Why was he suddenly so close?
Wasn’t Sebastian always ridiculously shy? Had he finally figured things out and decided to make the first move?
Was he going to kiss me?
That was so embarrassing.
She wasn’t that easy, okay?

Those thoughts raced through Noelle’s mind, but her body clearly didn’t agree. Her lips puckered up on their own.
Go on then.
Bring on the kiss.
The next second, a slightly cool touch landed at the corner of her mouth. Noelle opened her eyes in confusion and met Sebastian’s smiling gaze.
“Here, you didn’t wipe this clean after drinking milk,” he said softly. A faint smear of milk was visible on his fingertip.
Noelle was completely speechless.
Her lips had been all puckered up, and instead of a dramatic kiss, he was worried about milk.
Realizing she had completely misunderstood the situation, Noelle’s face burned bright red. She scrambled out of Sebastian’s arms, covered her face, and hurried out of the room.
Sebastian watched her retreating figure, embarrassment written all over her face, the smile in his eyes soft and amused.
For the past few days, Noelle had been staying at Melrose Manor.
She had given Sebastian another medicated bath, and the toxins in his body had already been reduced by about 60 percent. He looked like a completely different person.
His complexion was healthy and full of color now, and he seemed reborn.
Lucas came by every day. Seeing Sebastian improve made him genuinely happy, and he brought Noelle plenty of good food each time he visited.
Everything seemed to be moving in a positive direction.
Over on the Kain side, Jasper could no longer stay calm.
A full week had already passed, yet he still had not received a single call from Alliance 749. Had the boss still not returned?
He contacted Alliance 749 twice, and each time he was told to wait.
But nearly 10 days had already gone by. The daily interest from the loan sharks was climbing into the hundreds of thousands, and in a few more days, they would come to collect. He simply didn’t have that kind of cash.
“Someone as powerful as the boss of Alliance 749 wouldn’t screw you over. You don’t have

Jasper forced himself to wait a few more days, but there was still no response from Alliance 749. He finally panicked.
“Has the boss still not come back?” he asked.
“I already told you she hasn’t, why do you keep asking?” the person on the other end snapped. The call was cut off immediately.
Jasper stared at his phone, irritation welling up in his chest.
Even so, he didn’t dare to push any further. He and Gresham thought the same way. There was no way the boss of Alliance 749 would deliberately set him up.
Since the boss was not back yet, he could not just sit at home doing nothing. The company still needed to run. Jasper went out to see several business partners, all people he used to be close with.
But one by one, they suddenly changed their attitudes and refused to meet him. Jasper had long since learned how cold people could be, so he wasn’t surprised. After setting up several meetings, only one former friend finally agreed to see him.
“Jasper, I’m really sorry. I’ve got something else to take care of, so I can only stay for a bit,” the man said.
Jasper smiled. “I understand. I came today because I wanted to talk about a potential collaboration.”
The man didn’t even glance at the proposal. “Come on, we’re old friends. Since we finally get to meet, let’s not talk business at the table.”
Jasper kept the smile on his face and said, “Alright,” then asked the server to bring the food.
The man looked at Jasper and could not help being curious. “When the Kain Group project blew
up a while back, I was worried about you for quite some time. I heard Alliance 749 blacklisted Kain Group and said they’d never work with you again. Is that true?”
Jasper calmly took a sip of coffee and smiled. “It was all a misunderstanding.”
“A misunderstanding?”
“The project failed because one of Alliance 749’s executives, Harlan, messed with it. The boss already knows about it and has fired him as punishment.”
