Chapter 25 Where’s Your Brother?

Noelle barely glanced up. She was calm as ever.

Marsh immediately sent out a rescue team and called 911 for help.

Soon, Stephen came roaring back on the motorcycle.

“Noelle, the motorcycle you gave me is incredible!” Stephen looked radiant. “It felt like I was unstoppable! That was awesome! I’ve never ridden a motorcycle this smooth!”

“Elmer still hasn’t caught up! Ha!”

Noelle’s voice was flat. “He’s not going to catch up.”

“Huh?”

Noelle glanced out toward the smoke rising in the distance. “He went off the cliff.”

Stephen’s smile froze.

He went off the cliff?

Motorcycle races could be deadly–Stephen knew that. He never really wanted Elmer to die, though.

He just wanted to teach him a lesson and knock the arrogance out of him.

So how did he end up going over the edge…

“I… I’m sure he’s fine, right?”

Stephen swallowed, worry flickering in his eyes.

Noelle just looked into the distance, saying nothing.

Would anyone really be okay falling from that high up?

At the Kains‘ house, Viola came out of her room after finishing her homework. She casually asked the maid, “Melanie, is Elmer back yet?”

“Ms. Viola… Mr. Elmer still… still isn’t back yet.”

“What?” Viola’s face changed instantly.

Chapter 25 Where’s Your Brother?

It was already 9:30 p.m. Their parents would be home from the party any minute now.

And Elmer still wasn’t back!

“Ms. Viola, it’s really late. Mr. Elmer still hasn’t come home. Do you think so happened? Racing is so dangerous. That’s why Mrs. Kain never let him go. Wh Melanie’s face was full of worry.

“Don’t jinx it!” Viola was anxious, too. “He’s probably just goofing off. I’ll call him and tell him to get home now.”

Viola picked up her phone to call him, but just then, Melanie’s voice came from the entrance.

“Mr. Kain, Mrs. Kain.”

Dad and Mom are back!

Viola clutched her phone tighter.

“Don’t you dare mention that Elmer left!” she warned Melanie in a low voice, then hurried to greet Gresham and Willow.

She called out sweetly, “Dad, Mom!”

“Viola.” Willow stroked her daughter’s hair. “Still up, sweetie?”

“I just finished my homework. One more round of review, then I’ll sleep.”

“You’re always the hardworking one. We never have to worry about you. Just don’t ov know you’ll ace the SAT this year.”

Willow smiled, then looked upstairs. “Where’s your brother? Is he still in his room?”

Viola’s heart skipped. “I think so…”

“It’s been long enough since their little bet. He can come out now. Melanie, tell Mr. Elmer to come downstairs.”

Melanie hesitated and glanced at Viola.

Viola quickly said, “Mom, it’s late. Elmer’s probably asleep already. Let’s not wake him. You and Dad must be tired. Go get some rest.”

“I know that boy. He never sleeps this early. He’s probably sulking because I grounded him I’ll go get him myself.”

“Mom!” Viola grabbed her.
