That wouldn’t do at all.
The moment Noelle said that, Franz straightened his back.
They’d finally invited their “treasured ace“-there was no way he was letting her slip away like this.

He immediately changed his tune. “I agree with Noelle completely! Studies come first! This documentary–let’s forget about it! Ahem!”
Terrence was speechless.
He shot Franz an annoyed look.
But it was obvious Noelle truly didn’t want to participate, so he didn’t push further.
“Alright, since Ms. Kain isn’t interested, I won’t insist. But if you ever change your mind, my door is always open.” He paused, then smiled. “Ms. Kain, let’s add each other on WhatsApp. You saved my life–if you ever need anything, just let me know. I may not be someone important, but I do have some connections. Maybe I can be of help.”
Noelle agreed without hesitation. Kevin had been making moves into the entertainment industry lately–having Terrence as support would only make things smoother.
Saturday.
The day to see Angus.
Early in the morning, Roman personally came to pick Noelle up.
Noelle wore a baseball cap. She was a little sleepy and pulled the brim low to block her face as she dozed off.
The car drove straight toward the Guzman Residence. Roman glanced at Noelle beside him–the cap pulled down, breathing steady -and his gaze softened, complicated and fond.
She really looked too much like Mary. If Angus saw her, he’d surely be happy.
The car stopped before the grand gates of the residence.
Roman was about to wake her when Noelle stirred on her own, lifting the cap to reveal a drowsy yet strikingly delicate face.
“We’re here?” She rubbed her eyes and looked outside.
“We’re here,” Roman Haller said, nodding as he got out first.
The Guzman Residence was a classic old–money property–winding paths, big trees, the whole place imposing yet somehow restrained.
Noelle raised a brow when she saw the brass nameplate with the Guzman name.
“The Guzmans?”
Isn’t this Alina’s family?

So, Roman’s old friend was Angus.
As she followed Roman inside, Noelle pulled out her phone and quickly sent Alina a message.
“Alina, I’m at your family’s residence with Mr. Haller. Is your grandfather sick?”
She sent the message. No reply came.
Noelle didn’t dwell on it and slipped her phone back into her pocket, strolling in lazily with Roman.
At the same time, inside the main reception hall of the Guzman Residence.

Angus wore a dark, perfectly pressed three–piece suit and sat in a heavy carved–wood armchair. Though his energy was lacking, his eyes remained sharp.
Mary sat beside him, worry perfectly measured on her face.
“Dad, Mr. Haller said he would bring Dr. Kain here. She’s coming today.”
Mary hesitated. “I heard she’s very young … and a girl. Will that really-”
Angus coughed twice, waved his hand, and cut her off. His voice was hoarse but firm. “Roman knows what he’s doing. I’ve dragged this body along for so long–trying won’t hurt.”
What intrigued him more was Roman’s comment that the girl resembled Mary so much, almost a mirror.
Seeing Angus insist, Mary said nothing further. “Wesley is busy at the company today and can’t come. And Charlotte said she wanted to visit you, too, but she just started school and is exhausted, so I told her to rest at home.”
Wesley Shaw–that was Angus’s son–in–law. Hearing the mention of his son–in–law and Charlotte, Angus only responded with a cool
“Mm.”
Upon hearing those names, he stayed cold. “Let them focus on their own affairs. No need to hover around this old man,” he said, then looked at Mary with a warning edge to his tone. “The child has been found. I understand you want to make up for the past. But Alina has held the Guzman family together all these years. It hasn’t been easy. As a mother, you must be fair. Don’t play favorites.”
“Dad, how could I play favorites?” Mary retorted immediately, a hint of displeasure in her voice.
Just then, the phone on the coffee table rang. Caller ID: Alina.
