The confidant’s eyes sharpened. He nodded hard and immediately turned back inside.

“Listen to me,” Royce said, his voice hoarse and ruthless, driven by desperation. “The people outside don’t know Theodore is already… We’ll gamble on this. Carry Theodore out and say he’s only unconscious. As long as they let us leave first, once we’re safe, then… then-”
He didn’t finish, but the meaning was obvious. As long as they escaped safely, they could shift the blame later, or disappear entirely.
“Hurry. Do exactly as I said,” Royce urged.
The men scrambled into action and lifted Theodore’s lifeless body onto a stretcher, covering him with a thin blanket.
Ethan, his mouth taped shut, stared at Theodore’s bloodless face on the stretcher. Tears streamed down his face.
Outside, Lucas clicked his tongue impatiently at the closed gate. “What are they waiting for in there? Don’t tell me they’re trying to pull something.”
Noelle’s eyes stayed fixed on the door. Her voice was calm. “They wouldn’t dare.”
Sebastian glanced at his watch. “30 seconds.” Every second felt unbearable.
Just as the countdown was about to hit zero, murderous intent flared in Sebastian’s eyes.
The heavy gate finally began to open from the inside.
Royce walked out first, forcing his back straight. His trembling hands betrayed his fear.
Olivia and Tarquin followed behind him, their faces pale, their eyes darting.
Several bodyguards carried a stretcher behind them. Theodore lay on it, covered by a blanket.
Ethan was held between two guards. Thick tape wrapped around his mouth. His eyes burned with hatred as he stared at Royce.
Royce put on a show of composure, though his voice was dry. “We’ve brought him out. Sebastian, you’d better keep your word. Let us leave first. Once we’re safely gone, the people will be yours.”
His eyes never left Sebastian, afraid he might change his mind.
Sebastian’s gaze went straight to the stretcher.
The night was dark, and the distance made it hard to see clearly, but Theodore lay completely still. His face looked unnaturally pale.
Noelle focused as well. Her eyesight was sharper than most. She could barely see any rise in Theodore’s chest, and his complexion looked ominously gray.
Her heart sank. She lowered her voice. “Sebastian, Grandpa looks very bad. Saving him comes first.”

Chapter 375 The Final Gamble
At the mention of Theodore’s condition, Sebastian wanted nothing more than to kill Pope and the act of sham But rip Theodore mattered most.
He forced himself to suppress the urge to act and signaled to Primo and the others.
Primo, Alina, and Lucas‘ men quickly spread out, opening a clear path toward the main road.
Seeing this, Royce was overjoyed. Afraid Sebastian might go back on his word, he grabbed Olivia and Tarquin and practically scrambled toward the nearest car
The rest of their confidants and guards rushed into the other vehicles.
Engines roared. The Hernandezes fled in panic, speeding away in chaos.
The moment their cars started moving, Sebastian and Noelle rushed toward the stretcher.
Greg lunged forward as well and sliced through the tape sealing Ethan’s mouth.
The moment the tape came off, Ethan used every ounce of strength he had left and screamed hoarsely, “Don’t let them escape Grandpa isn’t breathing! They killed him!”
His raw, desperate cry tore through the night.
The Hernandez convoy, already dozens of meters away, seemed to hesitate for a split second, then sped up even more, fleeing wildly.
“What?”
Sebastian’s body jolted as he spun toward the stretcher.
Noelle was already there. She pulled back the blanket and reached for Theodore’s carotid artery–his skin was cold, with no pulse and no movement in his chest. Was he dead?
Sebastian’s pupils contracted sharply. His blood seemed to freeze.
“After them!” Primo reacted first, shouting sharply as he moved to lead people in pursuit of the fleeing Hernandez vehicles.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
Just then, a series of dull crashes and the screech of tires echoed from the intersection ahead.
