Chapter 489 The One Who Came Back
Chapter 489 The One Who Came Back
The living room was so quiet you could hear the drip from the IV.
After a while, Noelle spoke, “How are Theodore and Ethan?”
Serena answered softly, “They’re stable. Still in the hospital recovering. Theodore is doing better, just quieter than usual. Ethan lost a finger, but he’s alive. The doctor said he can go home in a few days.”
Noelle nodded and said nothing more.
When the two IV bags finished, she stood up. “I’m going to the hospital to see them.”
Everyone wanted her to rest first, but she insisted. In the end, no one stopped her.
She had finally come out of that room. Letting her go out was better than how she’d been the past few days. Back then, it had been terrifying.
The hospital’s VIP ward.
The hallway was quiet. Only the soft sound of nurses‘ footsteps passed by now and then.
The air smelled of disinfectant, mixed with medicine.
Noelle went to Theodore’s room first.
When she pushed the door open, she saw him sitting alone in a wheelchair, facing the window with his back to the door.
Sunlight fell over him, but his figure looked lonely and older than before.
Otis stood nearby, holding a bowl of grits, gently urging, “Mr. Theodore, please just take a bite. You haven’t eaten all day.”
Theodore didn’t respond. He just stared out the window, unmoving.
Eat?
His mind kept replaying the scene from that day.
He and Ethan had been tied to chairs, both covered in injuries. They didn’t know what those

Then, the door opened.
Sebastian walked in alone.
“Sebastian!” Deadeye’s laughter echoed. “Good. Very brave. You actually came.”
Sebastian walked in, step by step.

He had always looked at him coldly, said nothing, and walked away.
Why would he come?
Why would he trade his life for an old man like him?
“Theodore.”

Noelle’s voice came softly from the door. Theodore’s shoulders shook. He turned his head stiffly.
His face looked older. The wrinkles grew deeper. His eyes were hollow and dark. His lips were dry and cracked.
It had only been a few days, but he looked ten years older.
The moment he saw Noelle, his eyes turned red.
“N–Noey…”
His voice was hoarse as he reached out a trembling hand.
Noelle walked over and took it.
His hand was cold. Thin. All bone.
