When Lara Buckley saw Sidney being supported on either side by Jasper and Lucas, her face turned pale. She rushed forward in a few quick steps. “What happened to you?!”

The little girl, Camille Buckley, burst into tears and ran over, hugging Sidney’s leg. “Daddy! Daddy! Does it hurt?”

“It doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t hurt.”

Sidney quickly bent down and gently patted Camille’s head with his rough hand. Then he said to Lara, “I’m fine. Thanks to this young lady, She’s the one who saved me.”

He pointed at Noelle and briefly explained what had happened. He said he had been bitten by a venomous snake and almost died, and that Noelle gave him an injection that saved his life.

After hearing this, Lara’s eyes turned red. She looked at Noelle, her lips trembling, and bent her knees as if she was about to kneel.

Noelte reacted quickly and grabbed her arm, stopping her from kneeling.

“It was nothing,” she said calmly, though her hand applied enough force to steady Lara and help her back up.

Since Lara could not kneel, she could only stand there with red eyes, thanking her over and over. “Thank you, miss. Thank you so much…”

Camille had already stopped crying. She hid behind Lara, peeking out curiously at the group of strangers.

Her gaze lingered on Noelle for a moment, then moved to Lucas, and finally landed on the little boy.

The boy stood quietly beside Noelle, his face expressionless.

Camille blinked and stepped out from behind Lara, walking up to him.

“Who are you?” she asked, tilting her head.

The little boy said nothing.

“What’s your name?”

“Why aren’t you talking? Can you not talk?”

Camille was not discouraged at all. Instead, she leaned in closer like a chirping little sparrow. “My name is Camille Buckley. I’m six years old. What about you? How old are you? Did you come from outside? Is it fun out there? Have you ever had grilled fish? My dad makes really good grilled fish. I can treat you later, okay?”

As she spoke, she actually pulled out a piece of candy from her pocket. The wrapper was all wrinkled, clearly kept for a long time.
