Chapter 83 Call Him

A dagger flew through the air and stabbed straight into Anthony’s open palm. A sharp scream tore out of his throat.

Alina stepped out from behind Yvette at an unhurried pace, arms folded, her face cold. Her fitted suit and short hair made her look sharp and dangerous.

“Or what?” she asked coldly.

Anthony grabbed his bleeding hand, terror all over his face. Eliana, who had been about to shout with him, went pale at the sight and hid behind his back, too scared to speak.

“Listen carefully, Anthony. Yvette might still be polite because you’re her uncle, but I don’t waste manners on people like you.”

Alina smiled. It was a smooth, controlled smile shaped by years in the business world. She looked calm, but her eyes were frozen.

Everyone knew her as a fierce, capable leader who never lost control in public. It was the first time she’d shown anger like that.

Touch my friend? You must be tired of living!

Anthony should count himself lucky she hadn’t been here yesterday, or his hand would already be gone.

“You-”

Anthony trembled from head to toe. Alina was the Guzmans‘ heiress. He couldn’t afford to anger her. That cursed girl had actually gotten Alina to stand up for her. Still, he had someone backing him.

“Ms. Guzman! This is our family issue! Stay out of it! I know people in Alliance 749! One of them is a senior–very high up!” He stressed those words hard.

“The Guzmans may be powerful, but Alliance 749 isn’t weak either! Are you really going to offend them for an outsider? And you, Yvette! Let me go now! Give Jensen Group back to me! Otherwise, once that senior steps in, he’ll destroy the Jensens! If I can’t have it, neither can you!”

Eliana, hiding behind Anthony, suddenly felt braver after hearing that. They did know someone high–ranking in Alliance 749. All those years of gifts and bribes hadn’t been for nothing.

Yvette stared coldly at Anthony. She knew he had connections in Alliance 749. He had even shown her a token before—something insiders used.

But strangely, that so–called senior figure had never actually helped him. If someone truly powerful stepped in, she wasn’t sure she could protect Jensen Group.

“Alina, step back. This is between him and me. I can handle it.”

Yvette didn’t want to drag Alina into this. Since Anthony dared to hurt her sister, she was ready to send him to jail even if Alliance 749 stood behind him.

Alina knew Yvette was trying to protect her. She chuckled and walked closer to Anthony instead.

He was still gripping his injured hand. When he saw her approach, his fear deepened. He swallowed hard.

“So you want to complain to someone in Alliance 749?” Alina said with a smirk. She pulled out her phone and tossed it straight at him. “Go on. I’ll lend you my phone. Call him.”

The phone landed in Anthony’s arms, making his whole body shudder.

He stared at Alina in disbelief. He hadn’t expected her to actually let him call.

But that was perfect. He could call that senior figure right now.

“Hah! Just wait! I’m calling!”

Grinding his teeth, he dialed the number. With that person’s power, he’d surely be saved. Then he’d make Yvette beg.

Yvette frowned, then quickly relaxed. No matter how strong that person was, Anthony wouldn’t escape. Even if it cost her everything, she wouldn’t let him go free.

The call connected, but no one answered at first. Anthony’s heart pounded until the line finally picked up.

Then a voice came through.

“Ah! Oh! Ow! Aah!”

It was screaming.

The so–called powerful senior from Alliance 749 was being beaten just like Anthony.

“S–sir?”

“Ow!” the voice cried in pain. “I was wrong! I shouldn’t have used Alliance 749’s name to scam people! I shouldn’t have pretended to be high–ranking when I was only a name–only member! I was wrong! I’ll accept any punishment! Hit me all you want! Just please beg Boss for mercy! Don’t kick me out of Alliance 749! Please-”

Another voice cut in, cold and commanding. “We won’t let your name reach Boss. Leon Lambert, misconduct confirmed. You’re expelled from Alliance 749. Permanently banned!”

The call ended immediately.

Anthony stood there gripping the phone, cold from head to toe, as if he’d just been struck by lightning.

How… how could this be?

Yvette was stunned, too. She hadn’t expected that so–called senior figure to be a fake.

Alina, however, didn’t look surprised at all. “Looks like your backer is getting beaten just like you. And he’s about to be kicked out

of Alliance 749.”

“Alina, did you already know the person he relied on was a fraud?” Yvette asked.
