Chapter 76 Call Him Daddy

The High Priest smirked. “Why do you only have three rooms?”

“Do I look like I’m rich?” Annelise snapped.

The shaman couldn’t help but speak up. “Mr. Allen, I don’t think you understand this little female. She’s hit her mates before, and later even struck the chief’s own daughter. She was about to be kicked out, but she threw a tantrum, saying that whoever tried to stop her, she’d have her mates hang at their door.

“You should hear the stories about her first, and reconsider whether she’s truly fit to be the saintess.”

The High Priest ignored her, flicking his tail as he patted Annelise’s head gently.

“I’ll stay with you tonight. Have your four mates room together elsewhere.”

“Hey!” Annelise tried to protest, but the High Priest didn’t even listen. He just walked straight toward Annelise’s house.

Snowball frowned, watching the High Priest. Why does everyone get to sleep over at Annelise’s house

but me?

When Annelise returned home, Hudson was wrapped in a beast-hide cloak while clutching his two big tails. His cheeks burned red as he sat alone in the tiny courtyard, staring at the lion shifter.

He said pitifully, “Ms. Crawford, did you bring the golden-haired one just to tell me that white fur isn’t the only option?”

Annelise rubbed her forehead. My sensitive little fox… If you get any more worked up. I might really have to use my trump card!

“Of course not. Come inside quickly, and don’t freeze out here. You’re still sick.” She waved a hand, pointing toward the High Priest. “This old dude right here wants to be my dad. There’s no need to get jealous!”

Since returning two days ago, Hudson’s body had been warm the entire time. He was trapped in a constant heat cycle.

Annelise used needles to relieve his emotional tension, but it only helped temporarily. Soon, his temperature spiked again. Fortunately, the dark aura engulfing him no longer appeared. Hudson’s face remained flushed, and his cars and tails did not return to normal.

Annelise patted Hudson’s hand and said, “This old man is over two hundred years old, and he’s the first chief’s mate. It’s got nothing to do with fur color. You’re red-furred, and I love you for

it.”

Hudson simply lowered his head.

She continued, “Tonight, we’ll all be sharing rooms. Adrian and Evan, sleep with Rokky in one room and check his injuries while you’re at it. Mr. Allen, you take the third room. My little fox, you’ll sleep with me tonight. I need to examine your body.”

The High Priest reached down and patted his own tail like a delighted child, wagging it happily. His lion tail swayed from side to side, keeping him occupied.

It was a sight to behold.

All of a sudden, the High Priest announced, “You call me Daddy.”

“I don’t want to,” Annelise said. “I’ve been an orphan since I was young, and I can’t bring myself to call you that. Why can’t I just keep calling you Mr. Allen?”

What she said raised no suspicion at all.

The original owner of this body had no parents either. And in her previous world, she had grown up in an orphanage without her parents.

Meanwhile, Adrian muttered under his breath, “We finally got a room to ourselves, and now we’re back to three… Isn’t he the High Priest? Wherever he lived before coming back, he should just keep living there.”

Evan tugged at his hand. “Stop it.”

“Why should I?” Adrian whispered back. “Ms. Crawford brought the little fox into her room. She’s not here, and she won’t hear us.”

The next second, a voice sounded right behind him. “I heard you, though.”

Adrian’s entire body stiffened as the High Priest licked his lips.

“Rabbits are quite plump,” he said slowly. “I really want to know how they taste.”

Adrian was so scared that his rabbit ears flopped.

“Come on, we’re all shifters here. Isn’t that a bit too much?”

The High Priest said casually, “Two hundred years ago, we had nothing to eat. Shifters who

weren’t very useful would sacrifice themselves to be caten by stronger ones.”

Adrian spun around at once, trembling all over.

“Alright, Daddy! If Ms. Crawford won’t call you that, I will! Just don’t eat me!”

The High Priest chuckled, flicked his tail, and returned to his bedroom.

Adrian’s legs gave out completely, and he dropped to his knees on the spot.
