Her heart tightened. What if he’d already passed out?
And his office? Yeah, it was at the very top.
Claim
She gritted her teeth and just kept pushing upward, legs turning to jelly, vision blurring, sweat soaking through her clothes. But she didn’t stop.
He needed her. That was all that mattered.
She wasn’t backing down.
Inside the CEO’s office, everything was pitch–black. Not even a hint of light. The only thing cutting through the silence was a ragged, panicked breath. Stuck in this tight space, Damien’s claustrophobia hit full force – his body was shaking uncontrollably. He desperately needed
light.
Just as his chest started to tighten like it was caving in-
“Damien!”
A voice
–
urgent and panicked – broke through, followed by a small but comforting glow.
Amelia’s phone flashlight.
She leaned heavily against the wall, gasping for air, her whole body spent. But that light
–
helped her find him at last – curled up on the floor, pale and trembling.
“It’s okay. I’m here,” she said, rushing toward him.
But just as she got close, her legs gave out. She crashed to the floor and had to crawl the
rest of the way over.
Bit by bit, she got close enough to pull him into her arms, whispering, “You’re alright now. It’s
not dark anymore, and I’m right here.”
Surrounded by her scent and the glow of her phone, Damien’s panic finally began to fade. But
he didn’t let go. He clung to her like a lifeline.
Amelia, lips colorless and head heavy, leaned against him. Climbing all those floors nearly
–
did her in – more than once, she thought she might collapse and not get back up.
But she made it. Somehow, she made it.

<Chapter 181 Blackout–2
Half an hour later, the power came flicking back on. Bright lights burst into the room, and
Amelia squinted, momentarily blinded.
Still, her focus was all on Damien.
