Chapter 188 I’ll behave
Hearing Mrs. Brown say that, Zoey Mitchell finally breathed a little easier.

She was seriously glad she’d scrubbed off that oil from the scissors in the restroom earlier-
otherwise, Amelia Johnson would’ve caught her red–handed just now.
“See? Nothing on my hands,” Zoey said with a smug smile, turning her palms up dramatically.
“Miss Johnson, accusing me without proof? That’s defamation, you know. I could sue.”
Amelia gave a dry laugh. “Sue me for what? For looking at your hands?”
Zoey choked on her reply, glaring daggers at her. “Then I guess I’m off the hook now, right?”
But Amelia stayed calm. Tilting her head slightly, she mouthed a few words to Emily Carter
before looking at Mrs. Brown. “Mrs. Brown, just give me five more minutes. I promise I’ll find
the one who damaged the outfit.”
Mrs. Brown nodded. She trusted Amelia–she just wondered what she was going to pull out
next.
Soon, Emily came back and handed Amelia three sheets of white paper.
Zoey’s eyes narrowed. “What’s that?”
Amelia passed the papers to Sabrina Johnson, Zoey, and Chloe Hughes. Then she explained,
“When I was fixing the torn outfit, I noticed the hem had traces of some machine oil–same
kind that was on the scissors in the trash. That means someone used the scissors to ruin
the outfit and got the oil on their hands.”
People around nodded and looked at the three women’s hands–but all looked clean.
“The key is, this oil doesn’t come off easily like normal grime,” Amelia continued. “I want each
of you to rub your fingers all over the paper. Every single finger.”
They did as told, and suddenly, two of the sheets turned blue… and one turned red.
The red one belonged to Zoey.
“Wh–what the hell?!” Zoey’s face changed in an instant. She pointed at Amelia, shouting, “You
rigged the paper!”
Amelia just smiled, calm as ever. “I wasn’t finished earlier. That kind of machine oil doesn’t

wash off with just soap and water. And the paper isn’t regular–it’s pH paper. When someone
with oil on their hands rubs it, it reacts and changes color.”
“You’re lying! That’s nonsense!” Zoey panicked and tried to bolt–but someone caught her
right away.
Mrs. Brown looked furious. “If you’d just admitted it from the start, maybe I would’ve
considered letting it go. But now we’ve got solid proof, and you still won’t come clean? Then
it’s the police’s problem now.”
As soon as she heard that, Zoey turned pale. She started rambling, “It’s just a stupid dress! I’ll
pay for it, okay?”
Everyone laughed.
“That’s a Joey original,” someone said sarcastically. “Not some cheap designer knock–off like
what you’re wearing.”
Mrs. Brown’s face darkened. “Joey’s my idol. Contact the lawyer. She needs justice.”
Only then did Zoey realize just how deep she’d stepped in it—but too late. The cops arrived
and took her away.
With the mess over, Mrs. Brown offered to drive the Johnson sisters home since it was
already late.
Sabrina wiped her nose and said softly, “Thanks, Mrs. Brown, but my boyfriend’s coming to
get me.”
She’d already texted Ethan Collins earlier.
And once he heard Amelia was there too, he ditched his game and rushed over. Ethan Collins
arrived soon after, purposely walking over with a gentle tone toward Sabrina Johnson.”
Sabrina, why are you crying? Did someone mess with you?”
“Amelia, she’s your sister. How could you treat her like this? I know you’re not a fan of us
being together, but still…

spotted that tall, familiar figure, a soft smile tugged at her lips. “I’ve got Damien.”
