Reborn Second Chance With The Scheming Tycoon novel Chapter 58

Chapter 58 Performance

After Sabrina finished her performance, the room broke into applause.

Amelia stood up and headed toward the stage.

Ethan quickly grabbed her hand. “What are you doing?”

She looked back at him calmly. “Going to play a song.”

“Don’t embarrass yourself anymore.” Ethan’s voice was low.

“I won’t. Not anymore.” Amelia shook off his hand and walked briskly to the piano.

Ethan moved like he was about to stop her, but she was already seated at the piano.

Soft, flowing notes rippled out like a mountain stream, winding gently through a quiet valley. At times they trickled like a spring, sometimes surging like a waterfall, whispering low and gentle, then bursting forth with joy like birds singing in the forest…

When the music ended, the applause was thunderous. The guests were totally captivated.

Amelia stood and bowed, ready to leave the stage.

But Chloe stepped onto the stage and blocked her path, glaring. “You think just because you can play the piano you’re suddenly classy? Don’t forget you’re still a thief!”

Whispers spread like wildfire through the crowd.

“Wow, never judge a book by its cover. Who’d believe someone that pretty could be a thief?”

“Yeah, lots of people like that-look all polished but do shady stuff behind the scenes.”

“I heard she’s the Johnsons’ daughter. Got lost as a kid, grew up in the countryside, only came back a few years ago.”

“I was at that party where she swiped Mrs. Brown’s jewelry. Almost got the cops called on her.”

“I was there too. If Mrs. Johnson hadn’t stepped in, she’d be in jail.”

“If I had a daughter like that, I’d have kicked her out ages ago.”

“And Mrs. Johnson isn’t even her birth mom, treats her like real family-what a saint.”

“Disgusting. Think learning piano makes you a better person? Doesn’t matter how well you dress it up, bad character is bad character.”

Amelia gave Chloe a cold glance. “So just saying stuff without proof doesn’t cost anything now, huh?”

“Proof?” Chloe scoffed. “Plenty of people here know you stole before. This community’s not that big.”

A few voices chimed in from the crowd.

“+con back her up-she’s not making it up.”

“Same here. I was there that night.”

“Me too. Saw her steal with these very eyes.”

Claim

Chloe crossed her arms with a smug smile. “Well? Walk out yourself or should I call security?”

“See? I told you bringing Amelia here was a mistake. Now we’ve lost all face,” Grace said to Richard, pretending to look troubled while enjoying every moment inside.

“How was I supposed to know? If I had known this would happen, I would’ve locked her up at home. What a nightmare!” Richard groaned, full of regret.

Just a few minutes ago, he’d been proudly telling everyone that Amelia was his daughter after her amazing performance.

Now those same people were whispering behind his back.

“Mr. Johnson, your eldest daughter really is… something else,”

“Yeah, stealing at such a young age. Makes you wonder about the parenting.”

“Don’t be too harsh on them. She did grow up in the sticks after going missing. Kind of hard to raise a kid who just came back like that.”

“If it were me, she’d be on the street already.” “Exactly. A daughter like that? I’d rather give her some money to leave than take her back.”

“Mr. Johnson’s younger daughter is actually impressive-top school graduate, really well-mannered, and talented in everything from music to art. Too bad the elder one is such a mess, dragging the whole family down.”

Richard Johnson couldn’t even lift his head from the shame. Without saying a word, he pulled Grace Williams aside to a quiet corner.
