“This really isn’t your concern, Miss Johnson. I’ll take care of him, Amelia Johnson said, casually flashing the Maserati key at her waist.

Sabrina Johnson bit her lip. So, the car Emily Carter drove last time… belonged to this guy. “Hey, mister, what’s your relationship with Emily?”

Amelia gave her a playful smile. “Take a wild guess.”

“You two aren’t a couple, right? I mean, you really don’t look like one,” Sabrina said with a slight tone of

sarcasm.

Amelia lightly raised an eyebrow. “Of course not. I’m the one footing his bills, you get what I mean.”

After Sabrina left, Emily Carter looked like he was about to lose it. “Amelia, what the hell did you just say?!”

Amelia pulled off her wig. “Why? Still worried about what Sabrina thinks of you?”

“You can’t just let her think I’m being-kept by some guy! Are you trying to ruin my image?” Emily looked genuinely distressed.

As soon as she got in the car, Sabrina said, “Ethan, can you believe it? Emily’s being kept by that man.”

Ethan Collins gave a noncommittal “mm-hmm.” He honestly wasn’t listening to Sabrina; he only cared about one thing-where Amelia was.

He opened his phone and tapped into his chat with Amelia.

Sabrina bit her lip, jealousy flickering in her eyes, though her voice stayed sweet. “Ethan… sis is probably with Damien Taylor right now.”

Ethan frowned. “She’s with him again?”

Sabrina nodded. “She said she went to get her foot treated.”

“Foot treated? Her foot’s been fine for days,” Ethan scoffed.

Sabrina looked uneasy. “To be honest, I didn’t think her injury was that bad to begin with. I can’t believe it needs this many days of treatment. Could it have hurt the bone?”

Ethan’s tone turned cold. “She walks just fine. She’s clearly faking it to get Damien Taylor to feel bad for her.”

Sabrina quickly tried to defend her sister. “Ethan, maybe it’s not like that. Sis did buy him a gift, but I think that was just to thank him.”

Ethan looked at Sabrina, softening slightly. “You’re just too kind, Sabrina.”

Sabrina gave a faint smile. “Kind? I’ve watched way too many drama series to be that innocent.”

“You’re untainted by the world, not scheming at all.” Ethan always felt an urge to protect Sabrina whenever they were together.

Sabrina clung to his arm. “Ethan, why don’t you have a quick video call with sis? I’m kind of worried about her. It’s not safe for a woman to be out on her own these days. I just want to make sure she really is with Damien.

“Alright.” He was going to do that anyway.

Just as Amelia finished changing back into women’s clothes, her phone rang. It was a video call request- from Ethan.

Emily leaned over to take a peek. “Your ex again? What is he, addicted to video calls?”

Amelia tossed the phone aside. “Beats me.”

“You not gonna answer?”

“And why should I?”

Emily narrowed his eyes, clearly seeing through her. “Don’t tell me you’re playing hard to get here?”

Amelia shot him a glare. “Buzz off.”

“This room’s pretty spacious. How about we just stay over for the night?” Emily suggested.

“Well, we spent a small fortune here. Of course we’re staying,” Amelia replied, heading for the door. “Heard the desserts are amazing. I’m gonna check them out.”

*Just grab me anything decent,” Emily called after her.As the elevator doors slid open, Amelia Johnson was just about to step in when a familiar face suddenly appeared in front of her.

She paused, caught completely off guard. “Damien Taylor? What are you doing here?”

“Shh…” Damien gently pressed his long finger to her lips.

Amelia blinked, confused, and before she could react, a sudden weightlessness hit-he had scooped her up in his arms.

Carrying her effortlessly, Damien stopped in front of a hotel room. “Key card’s in my pocket,” he said casually.

Amelia reached into his front jacket pocket but couldn’t find anything.

“Not that one,” Damien added.
