Reborn Second Chance With The Scheming Tycoon novel Chapter 85

Chapter 78 You’re officially invited-1

Chum

Amelia Johnson sank into the couch. “I mentioned the birthday party to Mr. Taylor a couple days ago, but honestly, I just said it offhand. I figured Dad would agree without much thought, but turns out, you weren’t okay with it.”

“Didn’t Dad already say he’d make it up to you?” Sabrina replied quickly, “Mr. Taylor said he’d come, so he definitely will.” After all, he’d told Richard Johnson that directly over the phone.

Amelia shook her head a little. “I’m not so sure. Our relationship’s not that close.”

Richard frowned. “You’re seeing him every day lately. That doesn’t really scream ‘just acquaintances.”

Amelia bit her lip. “We’re literally just friends, that’s all. I’ve never overstepped.”

“You have any idea how many people would kill just to be called Mr. Taylor’s friend?” Richard scoffed. “If he thinks of you as one, that already says a lot.”

Amelia lowered her voice, looking a bit uneasy. “Honestly? Being around him feels like walking on eggshells. It’s exhausting. Maybe I should just back off and stop trying to be friends.”

Richard shot her a look, disappointed. “What are you saying? That kind of luck falling right into your lap, and you wanna run from it?”

Grace Williams jumped in with a worried look. “Honey, Summer’s not that emotionally sharp, you know that. Dealing with someone like Mr. Taylor, she probably upset him more than once.”

She was inwardly gloating, of course. She never believed Amelia, that country bumpkin, would amount to anything.

Amelia sighed. “Exactly, Aunt Grace. Mr. Taylor’s mood swings are scary. I’m always on edge around him.”

Grace put on a serious face. “Richard, maybe we should do something. If she actually ticks him off, we’re all gonna pay the price.”

“I agree with Aunt Grace,” Amelia added quickly, nodding like she meant it.

Richard turned to Grace. “Okay, so what do you suggest we do?”\

“I was thinking… Why don’t we let Sabrina get close to Mr. Taylor instead?” Grace finally brought it up. She’d been waiting for the right moment-and this one was perfect. Richard didn’t object either. They just never found the right timing before.

Amelia eagerly nodded. “Yeah, that’s a great idea. Sabrina’s graceful, well-educated, and polite. She’d never make him mad.”

“Then let’s do that for the birthday party-give Sabrina a chance to connect with him,” Richard said, smiling.

Sabrina was practically glowing. Amelia really was dumb enough to agree. But even if she hadn’t said yes, Sabrina would’ve found a way.

She had briefly worried Amelia had gotten smarter, but nope-still the same naive pushover.
