Reborn to Dodge the Bad Marriage novel Chapter 119

Chapter 119 Trevor’s Story

Juan held her eyes when he said the rest of it, low and certain. “I believe you.”

It got a smile out of her. “Mm.”

Nobody believed Mandy and nobody wanted to touch her, and watching Julian take Nora’s word lit something ugly in her. “Julian, you can’t believe her.

“Nora was the one in that room with Trevor from the start. She knew you were coming, so she lured me over and set me up to get herself out of it!”

Then she was crying again. “Ace, Nora really did this to me. I’m begging you, believe me this once. After what I did for you that night, believe me one time. Please.”

Mandy had come apart completely, sitting on the floor and pleading through the tears, and it was hard to watch.

Adrian listened to her and thought back to the night in the rain, when somebody had pulled him out of it. and he hesitated, and something in him gave.

Olivia sniffed at the air in the room. “The scent in here is a stimulant. Five minutes in this room and it starts working on you, and the longer you stay, the less control you have.”

Constance looked at Nora standing there, perfectly calm, and something in her chest loosened.

She turned to Adrian. “Mr. Pierce, get us another room. This needs handling properly.”

He glanced at Mandy with her clothes half off, then looked away. “Of course.”

Olivia spoke up. “There’s no need to rush, Mr. Pierce. Whether Mandy was assaulted is something I’ll have to examine her for.”

She looked down at Trevor on the floor, blood on his forehead, barely conscious. “And Trevor is badly hurt. He needs patching up.

“Once he’s awake, he can tell us what happened tonight.”

Then, she looked over. “No objection, Nora?”

Nora looked back at her without a flicker. “None.”

Adrian made a call, and a new room came fast, a suite with a large sitting room and several bedrooms off it.

He had somebody put a bathrobe on Trevor and carry him through.

Everyone moved into the suite.

Olivia took her kit in to dress Trevor’s injuries, and after that she examined Mandy.

Nora and Julian and the rest of them sat out in the front room.

The air in there was heavy, and it didn’t help that the storm was still going outside, fat drops hammering at

the windows.

pressed the room down further, until nobody wanted to breathe too loudly.

Sienna went to speak several times, and between Julian’s cold eyes and her grandmother’s face, she swallowed every word.

Half an hour went by before Olivia came out of the bedroom. She went to Constance first. “Madam Weston. Trevor is awake.”

Then, she turned to Adrian. “I’ve examined Mandy. There was no penetration. I’ll send samples out for testing and you can read the report yourself.”

His face stayed dark, but he answered politely enough. “Thank you.”

Constance glanced at Nora, then spoke. “If Trevor is awake, let him go through it first.”

Mandy had changed back into her clothes and came out to sit beside Adrian.

Olivia’s finding hadn’t helped. He still felt sick, and he shifted along the couch to put space between them.

Mandy’s face was white, her fists closed around her skirt, and she lifted her head to glare at Nora.

Trevor came out of the bedroom too, and he took in Constance, Julian, Olivia, Adrian…

Every one of them came out of the Big Four, powerful enough that any one of them could crush him without trying, and his neck went down into his shoulders.

Constance gave him a flat look. “Sit. Tell it straight. Who was in your room tonight, and what do you know about that project proposal?”

Trevor nodded, terrified, and actually started to sit.

He’d barely got half of himself onto the chair before Julian’s eyes and Nora’s came around at the same time.

He shot back up. “No, no need. I’ll stand.”

Julian looked at him without any warmth. “You say what actually happened, Mr. Lane. Nothing else.”

It was a warning, and it put a chill down his back. He couldn’t help sneaking a frightened glance at Nora.

“The one in my room earlier was Nora. She and I…”

He hadn’t finished before Sienna cut in. “Grandma, Julian, you heard him. Nora was the one in 3208 to begin with.”
